The Keep Kyrie & Tatum Thread

Post#1 » by Parliament10 » Sun Feb 17, 2019 11:24 am

Keep Kyrie.
Keep Tatum.

Do NOT "Rob Peter to pay Paul".
Tatum has the ability to become a Superstar himself.

Risks:
1) Gutting Roster and Multiple Picks, for 1yr of Davis.
2) Allowing Davis to be Traded in the Western Conference.
3) Going for Davis in Free Agency.

IMHO, Danny Ainge will NOT risk Tatum and Gutting the Roster, for 1 year of Anthony Davis.

If Davis commits, Tatum is definitely gone, if not I have no idea what Danny's plans will be. Danny knows what he's doing so whatever he decides I'm okay with it.
Good assessment:

Kyrie and Tatum, yes. And then the best 3rd that Kyrie and Danny can swing.

Oh, and I believe Hayward will be back to his old level next year, so I don't include his contract on some sort of deep discount of his value either.

And exactly what form of commitment are you expecting?

What non-Tatum package can we offer that no other team can top?

I don't think there is one, unless Sacramento doesn't make the playoffs and their pick moves up to #2 or #3 (while NYK misses out on #1).

Brown Smart Robert Williams MLE player MEM SAC LAC BOS 19 BOS 21

I struggle to see a better non Knicks #1 pick package that is better
Bet with Stillwater Celtics will finish 6th or higher in ECF Standings Regular Season(17-18). [WON]

If he (Tatum) has to go in the deal, he goes.

Ainge: "So, Mike, remember that time I bailed your ass out of _____________"
Zarren: "Absolutely"
Ainge: "Well, it's time to pay me back. You're going to take the New Orleans GM job and they trade me AD without getting Tatum."
Zarren: "Done, as long as we're even."

Of course, this scenario only works if Danny has something on Mike. That first line could also be "hey, remember those photos I found" or "remember when I let you" ....

2007 Al Jefferson <<< 2019 Tatum
31 yo KG >> 25 yo Anthony Davis

No way I trade 7 years of Tatum for 2 years of oft injured AD

There is no keeping both Kyrie and Tatum, thats the issue. I’m more than fine with a “Keep Tatum” plan, but I want to hear what the plan for contention is if Kyrie walks.

Personally, the best I could come up with is trying to join an LA/NO Davis deal and wind up with Lonzo. We turn into a run’n’gun offense with a hyper-switchable defense. Perhaps Brown grows into a fringe all-star in a more transition heavy team and perhaps Lonzo improves his shooting trajectory in a new environment. A Lonzo-Brown-Tatum-Hayward-Horford team could be super fun [though I’m not confident regarding their championship aspirations]. At the bare minimum, I would personally enjoy watching Lavar Ball mouth off against Magic/LeBron/LA/ADs Dad, though to be honest, I already enjoy him as is.

Danny will try to keep Tatum but in the end the only way we get AD is by trading him.

Key questions include:
-- What could Denver offer without giving up Jokic?
-- Are any of the Lakers' assets really better than Jaylen OR the Memphis pick?
-- Is Markaanen more attractive than Jaylen or the Memphis pick?
-- How about Siakam or whoever else Toronto has?

Stars win. Danny understands this.

He’s going to try everything in his power to birth the Hydra of Kyrie-Tatum-AD

If Tatum wins Finals MVP as the Celtics notch their 18th title, you'll convince me to take Tatum off the table.

Okay, so I guess Tatum IS off the table.

Well, with Hayward agurably back to his all-star form, a Tatum who's now the face of the franchise, Horford still one of the best big men outthere we can possibly spread Al's contract in 3 years and sign the best Free Agent on the market with our 30mill salary cap space. We have plenty of flexibility...

I love him. He's our dude. Unfortunately, we are going to have to include him in the deal if we want Anthony Davis. Now, if we win the finals this year or at least push Golden State to the brink, maybe it's a different discussion, but as of right now, Tatum is on borrowed time in Boston.
