Coming down off the ledge. If he can continue to improve his 3pt shot then we might really have something. Extraordinary character and work ethic.

Was just mad to wake up and realize we could of had Clarke, but at least we got Edwards out of the deal. Not too upset about the lack of bigs anymore it just tells me Ainge and Stevens like Bob more than we thought.

Edwards, Waters, Langford, Williams/Williams not a half bad secondary foundation to build on for our backup units.

My favourite of the four picks. The others have cooler names, though.

Wingspan is only 6'9". Draymond has a 7'2" wingspan but Grant has bigger hands.

Wingspan is 6'10 vs 7'1 for Dray, probably part of what makes Williams less imposing.

On the plus side - 5.4% body fat for Williams versus 11.3% for Draymond at the combine. He also beat Draymond on the three quarter sprint, and benched twice as many presses.

Also, Williams is under 21, Draymond was slightly older than 22 at the time of the combine.
GW also has a killer hook shot with both hands.

I read somewhere floor is PJ tucker and ceiling is Draymond Green. Seems ok.

Sam Mitchell on NBATV just said he has known Grant since he was a little kid and he loves him. He said knowing this kid, he is in the gym now shooting 3s.

Mitchell said Grant Williams is like David West.

Mitchell liked the Celtic picks, saying Langford was a top 5 rated player coming into the season.

They were only talking about the 1sr round so that’s why they didn’t mention Carsen Edwards.

NBATV analysts also said that Williams makes his teammates better and impacts winning, more so that Langford.

He does have a nice looking J, and I love the ability to hook with either hand.

Not pumped about the pick (vs. Clarke) but appreciate that he seems to be a high-character guy.

We had 22 and traded down from 20. MEM has 23 and hops over us (to 21) to take Clarke. That has to mean that we knew OKC wasn't taking Clarke, and MEM knew we were, right?

So we were taking Clarke at 20 or 22, got a little cute and got caught -- and quickly had to go with Williams as a plan B?

If so dddddaaaaamnit I wanted the good-sized athletic guy.

This was my exact thought when MEM traded in, and I'd bet money Clarke was our guy at 22. However I think Danny wanted a later pick to take Edwards

It's obvious that MEM thought we would or might take Clarke.

It's less obvious that they were correct.

That was my first thought -- short, strong PF who can shoot from midrange. I didn't post it because I wasn't actually sure that Williams could shoot from midrange. :)

if he can buy a 3 ball, maybe. otherwise it's tough to see how this guy's game translates to the big leagues. nice brandon bass style role player but not a starter level.

OMG watching videos and interviews I said he reminds me of David West, I thought it was because I had just watched a TYT interview of DW the other day (watched highlight videos as a refresher too). Maybe I wasn't too far off.

Bass level player in the 20s is a good pick. Bass wasn't anything great but he certainly would have been a nice pick in the 20s.

Btw I'm weirded out by this pick... Danny does tend to outsmart himself. Let's see tho.

yeah but when that's the ceiling it's hard to get excited. brad at the PC mentioned he was "smart" like 3 times. i mean, that's great if you're applying for a phd program but not so much the nba.

or maybe he meant smart as in a PF version of marcus smart. heady and makes winning plays, but undersized, stocky, and earthbound.

I think he meant "I am so freaking tired of coaching dumb players who don't know how to play like a team."

Are NBA players allowed to wear platform shoes on the court?

If he was 6’10” or 6’11” or even had a good vertical he could been a steal... but as is, should of been a second rounder
