I think he’ll mostly be ok on D. He gets in guys’ shirts and is pesky. He’ll struggle on some switches but he fights through screens.

I agree. I think he will foul a lot early, but in 6-8 minute stints every half I think he's going to pressure the ball and cause some havoc.

Especially with Marcus ball-hawking off the initial pressure.

Siegel guy seemed plugged in when it comes to salary stuff. Even Smitty vouched for him.

But nothing official coming out of Boston Celtics account or beat writers.

OK. It's more than likely.
But, I haven't seen it from credible sources either.

2nd Rounder. He could have Started at $900,000.
Looks like he should have taken a 2-yr deal, though.

This will be a steal, by the 2nd year.

There is a lot of guaranteed money in this deal if true. The #30 pick gets a two year deal with 3.32 guaranteed the 3rd year team option is for 2.1 mil

Edwards is basically getting 85% of that with the 3rd year already picked up. The club option year is a bit rough as that is roughly 2 mil lower in salary than the 4th option year on #30. But FA works out essentially the same way.

Tough to walk away from 4.5 mil guaranteed over 3 years in exchange for $50,000 for the summer. This guarantees some commitment from the franchise to the player as well.

Ugh. Seems like missed opportunities with the JR Smith thing, the timing of Yabu being waived vs Carson signed, etc. Hopefully there's another piece coming to make this make sense.

Carsen Edwards, Boston Celtics: It was no surprise to see Edwards continue scoring at a high rate in Vegas—it’s just what he does. And at an early second round price, the Celtics will be more than happy with what they have. Edwards scored from all over the floor per usual, manipulating ball screens and creating separation for his potent jumpshot, which is often better on the move. He has excellent balance and almost always leaps off two feet, helping him draw contact to compensate for average finishing ability.

He will never be a plus defender at the NBA level, but if you can get over the fact that Edwards is just a very small shooting guard, his natural ability to put up points in bursts plays nicely. He has work to do as far as playmaking goes, and it will never be the crux of his value, but overall, he’s off to a nice start. It’s hard not to see him being situationally useful down the line. Edwards is a luxury for Boston, who might eventually find minutes for him behind Kemba Walker if his progression continues. – JW

This guy might become our version of Lou Williams. Excited to see how his game translates to the NBA. Will he average close to double figures this year?

Can't wait for that one game (or maybe 10 of them) where both him and Kemba can't feel their faces and go absolutely bonkers from the field. One sits, the other just continues to pile on points.

Congatulations to Carsen! Are there many second round picks who get endorsement deals this early in their caareers?

He’s a bad fit here with scheme and Payton was better…..but I wish him well. He is a big time scorer at heart so if he can learn to hang with NBA talent, I could see him having a decent chance of sticking in Detroit.

I will forever remember that 8 3PM 3rd quarter he had in Summer league I think as a rookie or sophomore.

Seems like he should be able to get consistent enough to be a microwave off the bench.
