I was listening to the Bill Simmons podcast this morning en route to work and Flea (of the RHCP) was on. He said that he finally has a Celtics player he likes -- Tacko Fall. His description of him was concise and sort of perfect:

"He's like 9 feet tall and optimistic"

What's not to like?

That could be good for his physical development, swimming helps to be more coordinated and flexible, and improve the body in a homogenous way.

Yep, swimming is by far the best exercise. No stress on muscles, bones, and an even distribution on entire body.

With all the signings - especially the contract given to Green - it is no sure thing that Tacko makes the team. He is going to have to earn it. I am hoping he will. I think somebody else will scoop him up if Danny tries to stash him in Maine without NBA deal. Gotta wonder with all these bodies if there is a trade in the works.

trade? probably not. When you are team over the cap and plan to be for years, and under the tax, you do this. They are just getting around the "rules" a bit and giving the Dleague team all 50k bonuses for being on the team. In the end probably the same with Green. It's just money at this point, around the same if they had kept kyrie and horford, traded for ad and KD, and paid tax. In fact, way less.

We've done this many times in the past. Green basically is getting 300k to tryout for our team instead of signing overseas right away.

I also wouldn't say that Wannamakers spot is secure. I can see him getting traded or dropped mid season for a roster add from a buyout.

Right. And all the more if you're injured. Every athlete should know how to swim, at least as injury insurance.

There are few if any better ways to exercise above the waist (including cardio) than swimming, if something is wrong in your legs. Similarly, swimming -- in this case with a kickboard -- could increase its edge over running if one of your arms is messed up.

Dude could get from one side of pool to the other in 3 strokes.

I feel confident he'll just be converted to 2 way without being exposed to other teams. Too much flexibility is lost if he goes on the 15 man. I think that spot gets reserved for a vet buy out, with Green serving as a placeholder like 2007 Brandon Wallace. Unless Tacko really earns the NBA spot now, he'll be competing with the buyouts for it when Green gets cut in January.

Remember this one?

Who'd have thought a Bass would be new to the water? Then again, how about a guy named (Water) Fall?

It is unfortunate Tacko isn't good at making free throws. He is a foul magnet as his game is to reach up for high lobs in the paint and thrown them down within 3 seconds. Danny will need to decide the value of a situational player/human wall to defend in-bound plays at closing seconds of very tight games through the season.

Tacko looks a decade away from being an acceptable free throw shooter. Kid works hard but that’ll be a problem for him. Still confident he’ll make the team and be a good player for us.

Let’s admit, how often do we dig down to #15 on the bench?

This is the reason we sign him. He has a physical differentiation that doesn’t come along often. Sure, he won’t play big minutes but it’s worth the gamble to see if he can be an asset on particular plays drawn up or be used for very specific matchups.

I see no downside in giving him that 15th spot.

Underhand. He should go underhand.

What are we even waiting for? Sign the guy to a lifetime contract already.
