Lopez will just be the next one in the line of bad Celtics rebounding bigs. Holmes and Looney are both undersized and given that we'll probably already be undersized at the 4 (Grant, Tatum, Ojeleye), that's another no-no.

You know what, go BIG or go home.

Let's get Boban.

I'd go for Dedmon. Good defender and he can knock down the 3.
We needed the cap space for Kemba.

Holmes is 6'10, undersized ???

We need to fix our rebounding issues (that is an issue since KG left... :banghead: ). Give me an undersized Kenneth Faried (6'8) instead of a tall and weak rebounder like Brook Lopez or Okafor.

Against the Embiids and the KATs and the Goberts of the league, he will be.

It could go this way: For skill diversity, the Celtics will probably end up with one of Theis or Porrier, but not both.

If they sign a big interior guy like Kanter, they'll keep Theis. If they sign a perimeter oriented player, they'll go with Porrier.

One wide down-low traditional center, one lighter outside shooter, with Robert Williams ready to take as many minutes as he earns.

I think this is the year of Robert Williams. Let's start him.

Baynes and Horford are 6'10 too...

Point taken but Baynes is beefy and Horford has great defensive instincts, but even then there were nights that even Al gets overwhelmed by larger centers. If you're gonna be a starting 6'10 center, you either are built like Baynes or lengthy like Capela. Holmes is really neither.

◾Pencil in Theis. I guess Celtics match any offers within reason from outside teams.
◾No longer in the hunt for Capela; Cs won't give up picks.
◾Timelord accelerated development
◾WIll only have $4.7M room exception and veteran's minimum on bigs
◾Priced out of 1st tier guys -- Boogie, BroLo, Jordan
◾Would be looking at lower tier -- RoLo, Looney, Dedmon, Noel, Vonleh, Nene, Kanter

What about Baynes, rumor has it phoenix is going to buy him out. He knows the system but is fragile. Could get Vonleh and Baynes.
someone bring kyledog back.. at least his homer trades worked for the celtics..

Our big man rotation is a complete dumpster fire. Giannis is gonna destroy us and Gasol, Siakam, Ibaka will too. Hell we're gonna have trouble with random scrub big men. I would be thrilled to get a guy like Kanter at this point. I guess the one thing we can offer is lots of playing time.

Can we sign Theis to 1 year and overpay him like we did with Amir? Would give us salary to use at deadline to upgrade C or PF positions.

Is Boogie really a first tier guy?

He didn't recover last year, and really needs to sign a cheap 1 year prove it deal once again.

I'd go after Boogie, we're making the exact same bet on Hayward and who knows. Maybe lightning hits twice. Or at least maybe it hits for one of them.

Or maybe he'd be the only guy on the roster beefy enough to bang with Embiid in the playoffs if we face the 76ers.

If I had to guess, it'll most likely be Kaminsky and RoLo.

I think Robin Lopez is our best bet for center position this season.

Well it sounds like Capela may be off the table, given that it doesn't look like Jimmy Butler will choose the Rockets.

I say:

Bring Theis back if you can.

With the ~4.8 mil exception and/or a hypothetically available trade exception, I'd go after Ed Davis and/or Noah Vonleh and/or Jared Dudley. Davis is the best rebounder for the price, Vonleh offers possibly the best blend of floor and ceiling for the price, Jared Dudley is a great vet presence who would be interchangeable with Grant Williams at PF. If we can end up with a large enough trade exception at our disposal, maybe Kanter is a good choice, but I'd feel reluctant to commit much long term money to a guy who doesn't historically play defense.

Consider/Sign any of the following guys if they will take the minimum:

Poirier
Bender
Boogie
Okafor
Diallo
Noah
Birch
Faried
