Just a B/R article & I've definitely seen the idea floated around before but they suggest Love for Hayward & a couple first rounders. I'm not sure the 1sts are really necessary but I do think it is a deal that could make some sense.

Hayward's deal is shorter than Love's so they can clear out their cap space sooner than anticipated. Love would provide some of what Al gave to us, minus the defense, obviously & we can give all the wing minutes to Brown & Tatum, balancing our roster a bit.

Walker / Smart
Brown / Langford
Tatum / Ojeleye
Love / Williams
Williams / Kanter

No they don't. Last year the Celtics were favored.

Not really. Everyone else of consequence has already signed. He is holding both LA teams hostage, and Toronto to a lesser extent, as they were unlikely to be FA players even if he walked on day 1. Clippers and/or Lakers are going to miss out on their big fish (Kawhi) and have now missed their shot at a Jimmy Butler type plan B. The rest of the league are just watching, but not being held hostage since nobody has cap space.

I didn’t say Free Agents.

But yes, really. He really is holding the league and the competitive balance the could occur hostage.

Last season we only had six guys who were not on their rookie contracts. Only two guys older than 30.
So far, we have four guys who are not on their rookie contracts -- Kanter, Kemba, Gordon, Smart. No one above 30. Hayward is our senior citizen :o

Offseason not yet over. We can't head into the season with an inexperienced bench.

Barring a trade, we have to look for who we can sign for vet minimum. Among the players that might be available in that pool is James Ennis. An experienced player who has been around (with Pistons, Heat, Grizzlies, 76ers, Rockets, and Pelicans). A good guy to round out our bench.

Didnt Ennis sign with the knicks?

If he did, I am unaware of it. A quick look at Google News indicates not, but says 76ers and Clippers are interested. The 76ers have money issues, and would be looking at going over the cap.

Preach brother. Feel the same way. Only ones who think super teams are cool are casual fans and fans of the team that got the super team.

It's just a different world these days. I'm a young person by age but sometimes feel like an old man when I read how someone like KD can't wrap his head around why people are not in awe of him joining the best team in the league and winning the tittle with little to no resistance. Does he realize that legends are made when you're tested and have to push it to the limit to break through?

Instant gratification era made people taking shortcuts a norm, while persevering and leaving yourself with the option to fail is considered foolish. Nowitzki winning in Dallas > all of these 'lets group up and win without ever being tested'. But 'kids' will say, he only got one, Lebron GOAT.

Unfortunately, it's like that in real life as well. Everything is not 100% perfect for you? Dump your gf/wife and move on. Why compromise and try to make it work?

When you say this you sound salty, but I really don't want another season in which, unless a miracle happens, we know the winner. But fools like me don't matter, this is entertainment and bottom line is the most important thing. Super teams are money making machines and the league will not do anything to stop them.

It sucks because it is the Lakers, and KD's will always be a beta move, but don't we have something like 15 titles from Celtic super teams? What about the Red Sox?

It would definitely be a more balanced roster. I think we've addressed all our locker room issues with shipping out the guys that were malcontents, but the only possible remaining fly in the ointment is the trio of Tatum, Brown, and Hayward. They all probably deserve to be starters, but one of them will likely be odd man out. I'm guessing it'd be Brown who'd be most butthurt, plus, Tatum is not really a 4. He's a natural 3. Trading Hayward for Love gives us a legit 4 and a natural balance to our roster (for the first time in years). Only thing is, I think Hayward is going to fully return to all-star form this year, so if shipping him out, we'd get a lot better value for him if he already is having a great season at the trade deadline.

I’ve said it a million times, there needs to be one major max contract per team that is worth 40-45% of the cap with the next highest contract being no higher than 20-25%. Still allow teams to keep their drafted players at any price to reward good drafting. Unfortunately my suggestion wouldn’t have stopped KD to the Warriors but whatever. That was incredible management; I can’t fault them for that. This would prevent whatever is going on with the Lakers, though.

There seems to be less imbalance in the NHL. What are they doing right?

It's simply the sport itself. One player can't carry entire team. It's a legit team sport. You have 3-4 5 men lineups on each team going at each other. It's physically impossible for the best lineup to play anywhere close to 40 minutes per game while in the NBA you can have LeBron play 40+ minutes.

Yeah I'll be mostly pissed off that a) it's not us, b) it's the Lakers, c) I would like to watch a competitive league, d) I don't like LeBron James to have nice things and e) it's the **** Lakers.

If Kyrie hadn't been a space case weirdo, it truly could have been us (KI, KD, AD) and I would not have complained at all.

Aside from the AD semi-shenanigans, the Lakers acquiring Kawhi is 100% above board and legitimate, even if they have stumbled ass backwards into it.

No. To give up picks while taking worse contract back would be asinine. Plus, summer of 2021 is the new 'opportunity' to use space and grab a star. You can't count on someone like Giannis to come here, but you give yourself a chance.

To lock yourself with Kemba, Love and kids core would be sad. 0% for #18. Leave the door open for 2021 and see if one of the kids can make the leap necessary to make Boston a place to be. Aging overpaid stars like Love are not that difficult to find.

I'd happily take the small toy piggy bank that Isaiah's getting. In fact, if I had his money, I'd throw mine away.

Any interest in Danny Green? Not the biggest need or the most consistent player but he is good.
