In a row. Kemba should not have been in there he was terrible! The lone quarter we won was when Pop put JB at the 5 against Gobert! JB was killing it on D and DM on offense! Just terrible coaching to keep Kemba out there and never going back to JB as the small ball 5. Ugh!

Ya what happened was Jaylen did eventually go back in but then France went on a run and he got pulled with about 3 minutes left. Thing was the run had nothing to do with brown, it was because Kemba and Micthell decided to play hero ball. There were like 5 possessions in a row where those guys got the ball with NO intention to pas. It hurt us.

Completely false. During that stretch, when it was close, Jaylen allowed an offensive rebound to Batum who then scored over him. He then got completely lost on D and allowed an uncontested layup by his man Gobert. He then had an ugly out of control drive and weak attempt with his left that missed badly. Gobert got a rebound over him and then to top it all off he failed to come back to the in-bounder with haste which led to a turnover and then he fouled the guy that out hustled him. He was atrocious down the stretch. All in all, his poor defense led to 17 points by them which easily outpaced the 11 points he accounted for. I just don't know how anyone can watch these games and come away thinking he's a good defender. Is it because Gobert missed that bunny in the post? That wasn't great D by Jaylen it was just a miss by an offensively challenged 7 footer.

Besides that, Brown was impressive the last few games and Smart was Smart. But yeah, team isn’t going anywhere with Kemba leading them

Nah

Smart already talked up his defense, and how he's way better than people realize. Also, he's taken game-saving charges down the stretch in two separate games.

Don’t take the bait

Not sure what your issue is. You agree with me:
Torn on Kemba, a forever UConn fan and not sure I would want to pay him a max contract. Also, not sold on having him play next to Brown/Tatum. Seems like a treadmill team. Go young and see what we have in Brown/Tatum or Kyrie/AD. No desire on anything in between

I don’t like the kemba contract at all, the dude is a midget. I also don’t like the make up of the roster, doesn’t make sense to me

Defense is by far his biggest weakness. He looked like a sieve out there against Australia and France

2nded. I am not sure what people are watching or expecting. He's not Smart on defense or Beverly. But Smart and Bev aren't Walker on offense. Is he a poor defender? yeah, he's short and doesn't take chances to get in foul trouble.

Is he IT bad, or even Kyrie bad? No. Not at all. I mean, Kyrie could gamble and get a steal here and there, but his overall one on one defense and his team defense was out of this round world bad. Bottom 5% of the nba. IT tried, but just is too small for NBA on defense and had to have out of this world offense to get by. He was actually worst in defense in the league that year at PG I think.

Walker takes charges and plays good 1 on 1 defense. He doesn't fight over screens but is willing to take charges in team defense and seems to rotate good (even though it does little to stop the scoring at the rim as he's just too small).

The coach and assistant coach wanted to lose. The only explanation.

Nobody would pick that team if they wanted to win. Nobody would play Harrison Barnes at center, unless they were tanking.

Popovich and Kerr either sabotaged the team because they wanted to lose, or they are crazy people.

One is famous for tanking, didn't win anything without Timmy, while the other one was given a winning Mark Jackson team that even Bill Walton's son could go undefeated with.

For the Celtics, which is more important, trade everyone who played.

Keep Tatum, keep Perrier.

The Celtics are now the Hornets, and tripling the pay of their selfish dwarf guard is not going to make him pass more.

Those who use J Brown's game against Japan as proof he is a "max" player, it was Japan.

Would never have watched that if it was common knowledge that Fazekas was bald.

Smart, not smart and also injury-prone. A useful fourth or fifth guard, a defensive specialist with some passing, but not someone who wins.

This Baynes on the highlights, so many one-handed alley-oop dunks. It would seem that if Rozier, Brown, Smart, Irving, Morris had passed the ball to him it might have helped the team. Now the AInge Cartel has given him away, so they can pay Yabu to not play.

After looking at the box score, Kemba 0 assists, it seems last season for the Celtics was a happier time than the upcoming going nowhere season will be.
Markelle has Faults, Lonzo can't Ball, Jayson Tatum is the best player in his draft.

I'm not a Vincent Collet fan. He was the head coach of my favorite team in France. I just hate him, and the way we played against Australia was just terrible.

Tbh, I don't think that you guys should blame Pop or the players. You should blame the players who didn't want to come play for their country...

Ding ding ding.

Gobert was the best player in the game and is the best player remaining in the tournament. Dont blame our guys for losing to a team with a better player, blame Dame, Harden and AD for ditching the team and putting them in that position.

I’m not going to blame prima Donnas. What the point it that?

I’m not blaming any of the players either. Pop had enough talent to win it all. While the US players weren’t great, they were good enough.

I truly believe Steve Kerr, seated next to Pop would have done better as the head coach. While Pop was great, his best coaching days are well behind him. I said that a few weeks ago, so it has nothing to do with this loss.

The main things that really sucked by FIBA this year was the lack of coverage. ESPN was a joke with its ESPN plus. Finally they televised a game on cable today.

Disagree with him being better than Kyrie. Kyrie has shown flashes of solid defense and is pretty good at getting steals. Kemba is undersized like IT and can't stay in front of anyone

You guys do realize Frank Ntilikina had a game where he absolutely shut down Kyrie at MSG in 2017 too right? It's not a new thing with us

Wanted to really see USA v Serbia.

Get to see it.

Not at the part of the show where it was expected.

The Team USA brick show was more likely than the Serbian meltdown.

Three games ago, Serbia got the techs. Two games ago, the ejection, then last game they did not really show up.

If "volume shooter" Walker can't stop Frank The Bust From France, imagine how many points all that Bogdans is going to score. 40?

Jokic versus Harrison Barnes at center?

Boban against Joe Harris in the paint?

It isn't the Gold game, but USA and Serbia, it is a big game for reputations and rankings.

Smart out. Tatum hopefully in, and he has no shame of the previous loss on him. The shame is more on the coach, and the players who refused to go, but plenty of those playing also have the shame.

Just as last year's Celtics were least-likeable ever, this Team USA seems to be with the crowd a group that is not liked. The 1994 team was hated by most, it had Derrick Coleman as well as a few other attitude problems, but it not only won but was dominating in every game. The 2019 team may not be hated, but that is just because they were not good, not feared.

Chucker, Chucker, strange Joe Harris the "physical" player, Harrison "Warriors Didn't Need Him" Barnes, and hustling Myles "I Am Not A Plumlee" Turner.

If this is "Team Shamrock", then the Celtics need to be firing everyone and start again, around Tatum, as bricking smallball is bad for viewers.

That France kept Perrier bottled up on the bench. What was that?

Rudy was so good, there was only 5 minutes he didn't play. But Perrier has been 60-80 on %s, getting some rebounds, he should have played a few minutes.

Maybe he is their secret weapon, they will uncap Perrier in the bigger games?

With the red and white stripes, France had a better Team USA jersey than Team USA did?
