I think the most interesting part was where he said that the players liked each other and wanted to win, they just were doing what they know how to do and it wasn't working. So if there's anyone getting thrown under the bus by the interview, it's Danny IMO. For assembling a team with too many chiefs and too few indians.

They should really be doing what the coach wants them to do. CBS was completely powerless last season, a doormat, it will be interesting to see if he regains the respect of the locker room.

It's not about want.

Guys like Rozier and Brown can want to do the right thing with all the passion in the world. Doesn't mean they can do the right thing in a game every time. Basketball isn't a math quiz. Working hard off the court can help, but players have natural instincts, and intrinsic capacity to do things well or poorly.

Kyrie has been playing basketball for years. He can want to do something differently on the court. But actually doing it differently takes undoing years and years of muscle memory. It's not a flip to just switch because you "care".

Fans often fall into the trap of treating how tall and fast the players are as fixed, and everything else as changeable. That's not how it really works. That "mental" stuff is partly natural talent too. Horford isn't good at rotations because he decided one day he cares a lot. He's always been that way.

I'm not saying some of the guys on the team couldn't have made a better effort to put the team first and do more dirty work. I think they could. But they were trying. And that's what made the team seem so dead in the water late in the season. You knew there was no switch to flip.

Fun part is we haven't exactly fixed that problem. We had too many guys who Smart basically said 'only know how to score' (paraphrasing). To fix that we brought in Kemba & Kanter and drafted 2 scoring guards. There aren't a ton of guys like Marcus to do the dirty work. GWill seems like he will. RWill/Theis/Semi seem willing to try with varying success. Poirier maybe? But Marcus is still the only one in the top 6 that isn't primarily a scorer, or scorer/creator (Hayward).

How anyone can not see that Smart is not a huge potential problem I don't understand. Perhaps the same people who were saying Kyrie was staying in Boston when all that he said and did showed otherwise. If smart is this way on tv, can you imagine what he is in private. Yes Williams looks like he doesn't care. Tacko fall is much bigger and in better shape. To me the most important thing about a athlete is their heart. When you show up late, aren't in shape, you should be lauded for your highlights on espn? If you as the oldest celtic aren't taking personal blame, criticizing the coach and defending your trashy friends behaviour that's a issue! It's selfishness and a cancer! Come on smart, you should be more mature than that.

This seems like a massive contradiction then: "To me the most important thing about a athlete is their heart"

Marcus Smart legit plays at 110% at all times. By all accounts, is a tireless worker. Sounds like you hate Kyrie and won't stand for anyone that dares to defend it.

Which is cool if that's your opinion.

But I guess we should get rid of DA, Stevens because they have sheltered Kyrie. Need to trade Tatum because he vacations with Kyrie, and we can't have that! Trade GH who is guilty by association because he got close with Tatum who is close with Kyrie.

Smart has had several opportunities to throw Kyrie under the bus, but hasn't. What purpose would it serve? Kyrie is no longer a Celtic, so it's better to focus on they guys who are still on the roster. They're the ones who have to play better. Kyrie is no longer relevant.

Agreed. And that's what a Celtics fan ought to find really concerning.

Maybe because he only cares about the team. The question was about last year. At that time, that was the team. Move on to next season now.

There is no contradiction in what I said. Last year may have been a hard year for him with his mother's death. Assuming that he indeed does play with 110% which I dispute he did over a good part of last year.. You can play really hard and be a cancer, criticizing the coach and younger players .. Everyone said great things about Kyrie also, now the truth is out there.

Smart improved in a few ways last year, I like his post up game. At times he can be a very good passer. Walker is now with us so he won't have to be totally humiliated this year.

Why do you critics feel the need to always accuse anyone who actually thinks, forsees things of being this person or that.. It's sad. It's also sad that you are the same ones saying Kyrie was staying in Boston. How did that work out?

It's ok for a player to call his coach out, to attack fans. He s a great leader. How about him owning up to his actions, that's leadership. I have questions about Brad Stevens also, but sorry it's not ok to throw your coach under the bus , and loyalty to Irving is unfathomable. He was interested in one thing, himself. Unity will only come when you cut the cancer out.

Can we fu ck this guy all the way off for repeatedly calling Smart a cancer when he clearly knows what he's doing? The board will lose nothing with him gone.

You need to stop, it's the same post over and over. I worry for you, let the obsession go. Get some fresh air, this is unhealthy.

Legit, funny part is this is all his opinion. There have been 0 reports our young guys have egos and ****. If they had if I was Brown I'd slap the **** out of Irving mid-season. And they did let him shoot the ball around 22 times a game in the playoffs. So we know who has ego considering the staggering ~ .400 from the field and ~.200 from 3. Not to mention the defense and the 30 more points per 100 we gave up with Irving on the court(in the playoffs I think it was 96 to 126 with him on the court).

It's one of the funniest posts I've seen around and he's made sure he's posted it everywhere. Can't wait till reality settles in next year when they are a borderline playoff team and Irving starts throwing temper tantrums during media scrums.

Also, I'm starting to wonder if Porkorov is a troll who just does this for fun. It's hard to imagine this is all serious.

its all going to come out over the course of the year. when brown is dealt. he will be crapped on just like kyrie is now

I don't think we are living in the same reality, you and I. When you're writing **** like that I can't take you seriously. Brown is 6'7, 6'8, 235 pounds, his dad is an ex boxer. Irving threw him under the bus 3-4 times during the regular season, if Brown had such ego he would've slapped Irving and Irving would've done nothing about it, hell I would if I was Brown. Then Kyrie did the big talk, the playoffs came and Brown was better than HIM. Yes BETTER than Irving in last year's playoffs. I told you, we will talk after reality settles in, in 4-5 months for you guys.

I dunno why I'm even replying to you, tbh. You don't make any sense, you don't use any logic, you're pushing the same agenda, you aren't even using facts and facts are ALL pointing towards Irving being a douche. From the HORRID, LAZY ass defense to one of the worst playoff performances from a C's star I've seen since I've been a Celtics fan(it's actually the worst, 40% and 20%, Brown used Kyrie's hands to shoot the ball), the media meltdowns, ignoring reporters who are kissing his ass. Ignoring Danny and Wyc before FA(both implied they had no contact with Irving), to the fake ass "I'll come back if you want me or if you'll have me?"...

Just please get a grip, if I were a mod(no offense to our mods), I wouldn't let you post here, you bring nothing to most conversations, nothing constructive. Everything has a negativity towards the C's attached to it. I'm 100% convinced if prime Jordan was on the C's right now you'd say he's awful, not to mention saying your team has more young talent than ours(   ). I dunno what happened to you, if some player slept with your wife, or mom or sister, girlfriend? But this is literally ridiculous. You're lucky our mods are very liberal. I also have no idea why and I want an answer why would you post on the forum of the team you dislike the most? It's obvious the team you hate the most is the C's, you're obsessed, why post here?
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

I told you to stop with the cancer thing, plus there's not any proof, is your own bias. You're taking a 12 hour breather for continually ignoring and derailing the thread.

Also, Prokorov you are done here as well. Don't think i need to elaborate on the why.

Gave him a temporary ban, we will see what he's like after. I know I'll seem a hypocrite because of how i get lol, but try to ease up on attacking him. No point in getting dragged down to his level.

What are you talking about? Most knowledgeable fans and practically everyone I know think Smart is a great leader; a passionate teammate who sets a great example and a goddamn demon on defense, while also believing that Kyrie is an immature diva with no leadership qualities and in general not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. breathed a sigh of relief when he left. Good riddance.

Watched the interview and thought he came off great. No problem with anything he said. I wish more players on the team were more like Marcus.
