Did you hear that Philadelphia drafted yet another generational player in Matisse Thybulle? I dont get how they keep finding these generational talents year after year. Noel, MCW, Okafor, Embiid, Simmons, Fultz, Covington and now Thybulle. Crazy how one franchise can find 8 generational players that quickly.

It doesn’t jump out because it’s kind of a dated type, but Kyrie’s vibe is kind of hippie/stoner. Introduce him to the Grateful Dead and stand back.

He's mastering the art of speaking a lot without saying anything at all. Most people like that end up having rewarding careers in politics.

I won't lie to you guys - I was scared that the Raptors were going to make a run at Jaylen Brown. The signing of Siakam now, along with the Lowry extension, pretty much takes away their ability to sign Jaylen to an offer sheet.

Why would a team give US$130million to someone who travels just a few days before the NBA season starts and they have said they will actually start calling travels?

It seems that the NBA has a lot of players who like communism these days.

Just jumping on the bandwagon.

He was the pioneer, he was a communist while they were wearing diapers and watching Sesame Street.

Maybe Brooklyn should sign him?

What Type of Prison Sentence did Jabari Bird get?

Post#67 » by Scoonie » Sun Oct 20, 2019 1:47 am

WIth Javonte Green apparently making the roster, it brings me back to last offseason when I was so excited about Jabari Bird making the roster. Anyway, we all know what happened after that with his domestic violence against his girlfriend.

He was traded to the Atlanta Hawks last February, and ended up taking a plea deal last March. He was reportedly scheduled to be sentenced on May 28th. However, there was never any news after that and it was never reported how much prison time he was sentenced to.

Does anybody know?

Lebron is just trying to save his business in China. Its all about money and saying that Morey is misinformed is just giving credit to the Chinese government.

The only defense for Lebron that I can think of -- and it's a very very weak one -- is that Morey probably was NOT thinking clearly about the business implications of what he tweeted.

SuperDeluxe wrote:So, if I read this correctly, LeBron is fine with advancing the NBA's business in a country whose government can make some foreign athetes' lives a little uncomfortable for a week, but he doesn't mind the Chinese state being totalitarian 100% of the time. Did it never occur to him or the league that by playing ball in that country you are helping legitimize social control and other beauties? Unless, of course, they are 'misinformed.'

It's all about the money. Morey's business acumen was off on this one but his morals were in the right place. I side with the morals, regardless of whoever decided to run a live advertisement for the league in a country where totalitarianism rules.

I don't mind being friendly with China about sports. I'm old enough to remember "ping-pong diplomacy".

I don't mind being friendly with China about business, within limits. I even had a Chinese client recently. The Chinese people are a lot freer than they used to be (if you think that doesn't make sense, read up on how awful the place previously was).

But Lebron's quote about Morey not being "educated" was horrible if it meant what it appears to, and horribly phrased if his later spin is sincere. And by the way -- when Lebron correctly called Trump a "bum", wasn't that a kind of defense of free speech?

What does Bill Walton think of Kyrie?

Yeah I thought about that too, like what if Walton was the guru who could’ve gotten Kyrie’s head right last year?

Bill Walton after spending a day with Kyrie - "This is a really interesting young man"

Bill Walton after spending a week with Kyrie - "This kid is a real $hithead"

Predicting injuries then patting yourself on the back when they happen is kinda a **** thing to do. Plus, it's nothing serious thankfully. Dude's the most exciting player to come into the league in a long time.

I’m not happy about it. I’m simply pointing out the obvious thing that everyone else decides to ignore before anointing him as the next great player in this league before he’s even played one game. (And look, you just did the exact same thing.) I’m not the one that ate his way into a 300 lb frame and is now wondering why he is having knee issues. He’s also in NO where they’ve historically had a horrible medical/training staff. He may end up being a great player some day, but if he can’t stay on the court because of injuries then he’s going to be the next Greg Oden.

Also, there are already a TON of young exciting players in this league now and most of them are in amazing condition.

Pascal Siakam is now making 30+ mil per year once his rookie deal is up. I'm sorry, it might have been his market value, but he's just not that caliber of player. In the Raps' shoes I would have been looking to trade him first thing in the offseason.

This is the nature of the cap system. Because the true stars contracts' get depressed to the max value (e.g. guys like AD, Steph, etc... are worth at least double what the max contracts allow them to be paid), you end up with a larger cluster of contracts at the top -- but a wide range of talent among those contracts. So it becomes dangerous to clog up your cap with guys like Siakam, John Wall, etc... when you are missing out on so much value by doing so.

Honestly, this is how I feel about the Kemba signing. We'll see how it goes, though.

I'd be fine with giving Jaylen Hield's deal - 4/86 with incentives.
