On today's edition of DID YOU KNOW?!?...

If the playoffs push through, Marcus Smart will become the ONLY player from his draft class to appear in every playoff season since 2015.

If the Grizzlies hold on to their playoff spot, here are the only other NBA players to appear in six straight postseasons -- Crowder, Iguodala, Danny Green, Harden, Horford, Korver, Lowry, CP3. That's the list. Only Smart, Harden, and Lowry would've done it with the same team.

Disgraceful that the NBA is going to try to play this out.

I think that it's Ballsy.
Every other Major Sport (and the country, and the world) have been following our lead.

This is unprecedented.
Best to give all the fans something to pay attention to, and hope for.

What's the alternative?
Stay home and stagnate. And then do the same stagnation into 2020-21?

COVID-19, is not going away anytime soon. Gotta live with it.
Might as well go for it.

I agree to an extent, but the problem is that if you don't try to play it out, you could have no NBA until 2021-22

A friend of mine compared it to finding out that your wife was hooking on the side after you got laid off. Like, I thought you were better than that, baby. Not like those NFL and MLB girls. But guess you weren’t above heading down to Orlando to give a few b-jobs. Oh well.

I think Sean Doolittle said it very well. We haven't done any of the work that those countries have. We just shut down for a while, and then said, OK that's enough, without doing anything of the things necessary to keep this from spreading.

The NBA is going to FLORIDA during a massive spike of cases there, just to meet their TV contract requirement of 70 games this season. Are any of these leagues you mentioned taking place in locations with active, large-scale outbreaks? Of course not, because that would be totally stupid.

If the bubble is actually a bubble, everything should be good to go. We'll see.

I am a bit curious as to the protocols that hotel/Disney staff will follow. The plan will only work as well as its weakest link.

But this is also about a lot more than living up to a TV contract IMO.

If they were starting up with fans or in home markets including traveling and whatnot id agree but the bubble is probably far safer than the players just being left to themselves. It's not like the league forced the players back, as evidenced by the fact that some players have chosen to opt out. If the players want to compete for a championship they should have that right.

You have players, coaches, support staff of all kinds, TV people, hotel, restaurants, etc.. The bubble will probably include almost a thousand people in a state where perhaps 1-1.5% of citizens will be diagnosed with coronavirus just in July alone.

IMO, this is pretty clearly all about the money. TV money is something like 2/3rds of the league's revenue, and I have definitely heard that 70-game threshold for the league to get paid a few times now.

And if people don't want to wear masks, that should be their right too. But there are consequences for actions. It is not at all unreasonable to assume that 200-300k people in Florida will get diagnosed with coronavirus this month alone. Population of Florida is 20m, and we know that positive tests only catching a fraction of people who are actually carrying the virus at any given moment.

Based on estimates of the percentage of cases that positive tests are actually documenting, as many as 1 in every 10 Floridians will be walking around with coronavirus this month.

Read that again.

Reading Cave's posts and knowing he is right. But, also at the same time knowing you have to support your team during it's bubble pandemic tournament as they enter the depths of Florida hell.
