This may be sour grapes speaking, but honestly I prefer Tatum. Are the Lakers even in the positive when AD is on and Lebron is off? Meanwhile Tatum is our #1 guy by far.
Lakers are -2.5, w/ AD w/o Lebron.
Celtics are +8.3 w/ Tatum w/o Kemba.
Part of it is having better guys at 3-7 spots. But Tatum defensively has been on another level. Even though a lineup of JT + bench guys couldn't score much, the defense holds up. I don't think AD is the same with lesser guys around him.
Dunno what Lakers plan is post-Lebron, but AD can't carry a team as a primary. Let's just hope Giannis doesn't get dirty ideas for 2021 (LAL books pretty much clean at that point).
