Translation: Demarcus weighs about 320 at the moment and is completely out of shape, most likely.

Yeah, just shut it down already. It's just way too risky at this point. I'm all for Lebron wasting one of his twilight years.

Yeah, it's time to call it a day. I mean, just look at all the meatheads around the country going out, no masks, hugging, dancing, like this never happened.

Yeah. We're just in a lull now, too. When it comes back around in the Fall, it's gonna be tough.
I'd hate to lose sports, basketball in particular. But, they better get really serious, and really creative, really fast.

Yeah I would hope that when you get 30 billionaires together and they discuss the future of their product that will generate trillions of dollars in the next decade, hopefully they project that a handful of guys will get coronavirus and it doesn't change anything. But who knows, everything everywhere is so reactionary to this virus for some reason.

I dunno, if you have so little foresight that this could happen, I find it hard to believe you could be in charge of even tying your own shoes. So if you let Nikola Jokic contracting coronavirus be the thing that halts this, then either the entire plan by the NBA is just a farce to keep people interested in the sport or the league is run by sub-humans.

Chris Forsberg speculated that the Celts could trade Jaylen Brown for Donovan Mitchell if Mitchell opts out. He thinks that Tatum and Mitchell are buddies and plausible "lets superteam" candidates. What do you all think?

That’s the problem isn’t it. With the reports that the Disney employees don’t have to take tests & the players new restrictions it will be pretty hard to prevent a player from getting the virus.
You have to ask yourself, then what ? If a player tests positive you’d have to assume the whole team has to stop playing for a length of time. If that’s the case (which it will be) it will be kind of hard to have a playoff series.
I know it’s a bit of a wild idea but I wonder why they haven’t thought about having it in New Zealand ? The counties managed to completely get rid of it. All the players have to do is get there, self quarantine for a couple of weeks & then there would be no restrictions. Not only do teams get to play all across the country but you also get as many fans as you want in the arena’s.

Meh. If an NBA player, coach or executive dies from covid-19 I will be shocked. Even the old guys like Popovich and D'Antoni are in way better shape than most of the population.

Now if Oliver Miller or Jared Sullinger were still in the league, I might have to take that back.

Sure NBA players will test positive, but like Jokic, virtually all of the positives will be asymptiomatic. It's much more likely that a Disney employee infected by an NBA player will go on a ventilator, than the other way around.

Well, I would rather that nobody ends up on a ventilator; it doesn't matter if it's an NBA player or a custodian at Disney. That's the point, no?

I'd be shocked if Mitchell opts out. A lot of this still sounds like flights of fancy here. Mitchell has never expressed anything but love for Utah. And there's no way that the Gobert dust up is enough to make him turn on the whole organization. And if it was, it would be revelatory about his mental makeup.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Yes, but it's the Disney employees who ought to be balking at the arrangements in Orlando, not the NBA players. Of course they have no power and no financial cushion if they elect not to participate.

One fascinating development that has come out of this pandemic is the renewed appreciation for the ordinary people who keep the rest of us going: postal workers, nurses, grocery clerks, garbage collectors, bus drivers, the people who keep the Internet and the sewer system up and running, --all of whom do these essential tasks at risk to themselves. They are more important than investment bankers and millionaire professional athletes.

It is to be hoped that some folks in Washington, D.C. will figure this out-- but maybe not.
