We were shorthanded and sucked a lot tonight but lets also be real. Do the Lakers have a historical rivalry with the Celtics or the Pelicans?

This hits the Celtics family hard. Our franchise IS tied to them even as arch rivals.

I am sure in a few days people will feel better but today was a MONUMENTAL shocker. I don't even know why at times these games were allowed to go on.

But yeah it's a loss and it counts in the loss column. Have to get better and healthier.

Shorthanded, on the road and copped two more injuries is that true?

Expected loss.

At least two more. Smart, Theis, Green and maybe even Kemba all came up a little lame during the game

There was a minute in the 4th when I felt the Celtics had it and then they went full lunatic. They seemed very jittery tonight.

Still 4th place. Huge games coming up soon too. Lets just hope for the best, still have belief in these guys.

You can tell from smart and Jaylen comments where their heads were.

No and both smart and green tweaked their ankles and Theis hurt his back . We can’t catch a break

Can't hate on the bench when we have been playing without 2-3 of our top 7-8 for long stretches.

I really didn’t care about this game after the Kobe news. The effort was probably bad but I understand. This is bigger than basketball. RIP Kobe and Ginny.

I don't know why Brown and Smart are getting all of the blame. Every player contributed boneheaded plays, and the bench scored 8 points. Kemba was the only + player.

I don’t even care about the loss. Hate Kobe but respected his fame. Glad we beat them in 2008 to win another title.

He was a gamer and never took the easy way. RIP.

We're just not good / deep enough to miss 2 of our top 7. We seem to be able to handle one at times, but 2 seems super hard to overcome.

Hell, I just read that there are 9 dead, overall. What a tragedy. Darn life's crazy, guys.

On the game, we are good, seems as I wrote before, we do need a guy who can score over 10 each night from the bench. We only have Kanter there. Marcus is on and off when it comes to offense. We really need a guy who can score from the bench. Wannamaker, Smart and Kanter ain't enough.

Good part of this game was Hayward, Brown and Kemba playing well, again.... Jru is very skilled dude and very hard to handle.
Good assessment:

Not only that, what impressed me by Bryant is that he always seemed to be a man's man. The rivalry between him and Pierce was pretty fantastic.

Regardless games like this, which happenes more often than you think, is exactly why I don't think Brown will ever live up to that contract.

I think that Kemba and Tatum are both better, but I'd say they've each had just as many, if not more, stinkers than JB. I think most of the board looks harder for Jaylen's bad games.

Also, Kemba kept us around with his good offense, and JB WAS awful on defense, but kemba and the rest of the team were just as bad on that end. watching us get lost in rotation or even worse, just standing around on D, was super frustrating.

JB seems overrated by some and used as the official scapegoat by others. I don't want to defend him too much after this game because he WAS garbage, but our team's defense was garbage in general and he's getting all the shout-outs.

classic realgm. weren't we going to win the championship 2 games ago? I'd argue that we were short-handed on a super-strange, emotional night, and that we really can't take away too much from this game, but i guess that would be out of place, so....Trade Tatum and Brown for Steven Adams and Davis Bertans now!!!!!! only way to stop the sky from falling.

I get it that it was an emotional day / game. I also get it that we were down Tatum and Kanter. But when the ball goes up, these guys are professionals. They get paid MILLIONS of dollars to play this game. There is no coddling or babying them when they just don't play hard. I understand Smart having a bad shooting night. They all have had that. Every player on every team has them.
However, to just stand around on defense and watch the ball as you get scored on is unacceptable. 5 offensive rebounds on one possession is unacceptable. If you want to watch, buy a ticket and sit in the stands. There is time to mourn after you do what you are paid to do. Using Kobe's death as an excuse to just go through the motions, is a disrespect for everything Kobe stood for. I hate the Lakers, but respected the man and the talent. But as professionals, they are paid to set that aside and do their job. Kobe would have.
