TCOFB game.
Every game matters.
Gotta beat the lesser teams.
2-3-4 seeds in EC are tighter than a nun’s kerfluffle (at least most of them).

As long as our All Star quality wing triumvirate of JB, JT & GH are playing, step up & play HUGE, we should still win.
Curious to see the rotation if in the worst case Kemba, Marcus, Theis & EK are all down.
GW, BW & SO will get even bigger minutes.
TW will get serious time in the backcourt - & I guarantee you he will be much better than tonight.
We will also definitely see Javonte & Vincent.
Beware Fournier, Ross & Vuc.

Then the Hawks & then we REALLY have work to do - Thunder, Rockets & Clippers.

PS
Root for the Pacers to take down the Craps twice this week, & for the Heat to lose the Clips.

Celtics are 7-1 in their last 8 games. This is what our top 4 players put up during this stretch...

• Tatum - 24.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.2 spg on 48/49/83 splits
• Brown - 22.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.3 spg on 53/30/75 splits
• Kemba - 21.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 5.7 apg, 2.0 spg on 42/39/87 splits
• Gordon - 19.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3.5 apg, 0.8 spg on 51/46/88 splits

Our top 7 guys had net ratings between 14.1 (Hayward) to 37.6 (Tatum) during that span.

Celtics were outscoring opponents by 37.6 points per 100 possessions when Tatum was on the floor! Insane!

Schedule is about to get realll tough after these next two games. After ORL/ATL, we have 10 games out of the next 14 against teams over 10 games above .500, plus tilts vs. Minny, Portland and Brooklyn, none of whom I consider pushovers. Plus, 9 of those games are on the road. It will be the toughest stretch of the year for this team; thankfully at least there is the ASB in the middle to give a little breather.

Given how tight the 2-4 race is in the East and how badly I want to avoid the #4 seed, we really need to take care of the next two and set ourselves up to take a few lumps in late February / early March.

Thankfully, the last 17 games after the brutal stretch flip in the other direction - just 5 games against teams with winning records to end the year from March 13th onward.

We will know a lot more about just how good this team is during that 14 game stretch.

That's a word you don't hear used for this context as often as you did in the past.

Often heard in Pisa, but with a different meaning.

Orlando, when you are told you have nothing to look forward to, that you will be struck in mediocrity, and you choose to just overpay everyone and to keep the team and stay in the position of not getting nice picks and not having a chance of winning a playoff series.

Tanking got them the top pick before, and then that player got them to the NBA Finals.

Have been watching the Fultz fellow. He is similar to Romeo when going to the basket. Not an insult.

Romeo is better for shooting from outside, probably. Not an insult, but not good to see.

If Romeo is equal to or better than Fultz, then Philadelphia gave away Tatum for free to Boston. That was swell of them to do.

All these years, nobody knows what position A Gordon plays.

Some sort of a volume shooter. 30% from 3 as a starting small forward, not the way to win.

Guard Evan outside, let everyone else brick away.

Orlando are still paying Timofey Mozgov? That is funny.

If there is one team that should just trade away every player, maybe it is Orlando.

Will admit there was surprise when J Green started last game.

Sort of made sense, but didn't.

With a lotto guard rookie, against a bad and youthful Atlanta team, Romeo should have had his goeo. Maybe this game?

Hopefully the NBA has many trades, to at least produce a few teams worth watching, and that the Celtics find a better balance with their roster and make a trade or two.

If the Magic did trade every player, and the arriving ones didn't arrive in time to play here, would the Celtics have to just play their two two-way players and coaching staff in the game?

Tyrone Corbin back in action. Mike Batiste dominating the paint like he did in Europe for many years. Boston would win.

Long form injury report:

I like Grant Williams chances of getting significant minutes. No doubt Tacko will be recalled.

Javonte started at 'point guard' last night, maybe he can start at 'center' tomorrow?

And yes. It's Tacko time. I want him vs. Bamba in fact I need him vs. Bamba.

Javonte Green is actually a Combo-Guard.

We're getting really depleted at Center.

If the Celtics trade Kanter and Grant Williams for Capela, all the centers will be injured and they'll have to play Tacko.

Celtics depth showing off. Another weak opponent that they can still beat even if the Celtics are missing 4 of their top 6 players (Walker, Hayward, Smart, Theis). Although three of these guys might yet play.

Hopefully a few guys play a bit.

This game was moved to ESPN days ago over Warriors/Nets and DLo's return to Brooklyn which apparently the networks know nobody cares about.

They know people care a lot more about watching Jayson Tatum.

Yep, getting rid of PJ Dozier really allowed these guys to finally breathe.
