If a suitable buyout candidate or someone else becomes available, who would the Celtics cut to open a roster spot?
Update:

What’s the timeline on buyouts?

I don't trust Windbag when it comes to Celtics news. If JackieMac or some other insider confirms, maybe.

Miami or Houston vs Boston? Idk. He'd get the most playing time in Houston. Imo he'd have the better chance of going deep in the playoffs here.
Also, is Nene cooked? No one is talking about him.
And as far as bench scoring, would Evan Turner be THAT bad? He excelled here. I don't see why he couldn't excel again.

Nene is absolutely done.

Yea Evan Turner I could see happening. TT would be great but unlikely.
Not sure anybody else is worth a move.
The entire point of having all these young dudes is to get homegrown upgrades eventually. Langford and Grant are legit..

If we are getting TT, then we cut Poirier
If it's ET, then it's Green.
If it's IT, then it's Edwards.
Danny isn't signing IT though. We aren't trying to set a record for shortest PGs.

Javonte Green. They aren't cutting someone with guaranteed salary for next year like Poirier and they aren't going to cut Carsen Edwards after giving him a 4 year deal lmao. Do you guys really thinking the Celtics are just going to cut players who have guaranteed money next year and who fill a role when they could just cut the 26 year old journeyman who ideally shouldn't be getting any minutes and has no guaranteed money?
I'll take Thompson, but IT and ET are so **** washed, I'm genuinely embarrassed when I see their names pop up here.

Financially, Wanamaker and Ojeleye should make the list above.
Moving other players means wasting next year's money as well.
They pay Max Strus this year, still pay Guerschon Yabusele for two years after that, and pay Demetrius Jackson for many more years.
A difficult choice, due to the ineptness of the Boston management.
J Green for his position, where the Celtics already have six players, can go. If a center is brought in, maybe Perrier is out.
Wanamaker makes sense with the low money, but the oldest player on the team should have experience to do well in playoff games.
Semi and Edwards are the worst players on the team, by stats.
Will guess J Green would go.

It's Green. Cheapest contract, no future guaranteed money, and no real role now or in the forseeable future. Absolutely no reason on earth to eat Poirier's 2nd year.
Only after Green, if you need a second roster spot, do you start to have to look at positional needs, guaranteed money, and other factors. Poirier's most likely to go second, but if the bought out player is a PG, Wanamaker becomes a possibility.
Edit: forgot Semi. I have the impression they like him in his role, but I suppose he's a possibility as well, with no guaranteed future money. But again, only in the universes where we need a second spot.

Trick question. No buyout worth it is going to sign here.

Let the Evan Turner vs Javonte Green, Carsen Edwards vs IT debates begin.

No reason to eat two years of Edwards' money or one year of Poirier's. Green does not factor into our playoff rotation (or really our future) in
any scenario barring team plane crash, so you don't eat future guaranteed money to keep him.

Isn't it usually March 1 when they have to be waived by? Lot of posturing time for Tristan and the Cavs before then.

Green does have the cheapest Contract.
But for some reason, I think that he's still more valuable than Poirier.
Though, that is about a $4M+ difference.
