2. KD
3. Embiid
4. Jokic
5. Tatum
6. Luka
7. Ja
8. Booker
9. Lebron
10. Curry

Kawhi and AD would be on the list if they ever played. Harden has slipped out of the top 10 along with Dame and a few others. A new generation is starting to come to the forefront

Tatum is frequently the best player on the floor when playing against one of those other guys. (And vice-versa.) No way is that ranking a stretch.
The only stretch for me in homercleases rankings is Booker and Ja, imo.

Booker is set to very mildly outdo Tatum in accolades this year. (e.g. 5th in MVP voting vs. 6th, with both on All-NBA First Team).

Ja has been debated to death in MVP conversations (e.g. the team record without him), so I'll pass.

Curry looks a little low. He plays on defenses so good that I figure he can't be bad at defense himself. (That said -- is he actually perceived as worse than Celtics Ray Allen, another guy to whom a narrative like that applied?)

This is mainly just because he has the most eye-popping counting stats on the best team in basketball and was healthy in the regular season imo. Steph when healthy is a better player than Booker and I think most people would agree with that. Not that it has much to do with Tatum's ceiling.

I'm not really sure how but evidently Jalen Brunson is capable of possibly winning a playoff series as the best player on his team. (No bearing on Tatum vs Luka or anything, just taking a jab at the Jazz )

yeah Jalen Brunson is balling out

Tatum is on pace to being the marquee player in the NBA in the next year or two. Wouldn't surprise me if Tatum was MVP next year or the year after.

As long as his ceiling is Finals MVP, I don't care about anything else really

Hard to see it happening quite that soon unless he gets more recognition for his defense. Right now Giannis and Embiid get a lot more defensive credit than Tatum does.

That said -- if he can keep the clamps on KD for much of the series, the perception of Tatum will take a large leap. (Of course, that's true precisely because of the difficulty and apparently unlikelihood of him pulling it off.)

This is why I’ve been calling for more PnR’s for Tatum, as he still does it 6% less than last year.

I’m hoping we unleash the SPAM Tatum PnR’s offense in the playoffs.

Quoting yourself, I see.

Yeah the first post was just throwing something on here, didn’t really look into it at the time lol.

Nate Duncan is someone who has regularly called Tatum's defence 'good, but overrated statistically'.
That's not what he was saying after Game 1. He was more amazed by the load he was able to take on at both ends, being both the primary offensive player, and a defender good enough to block Kyrie and KD jumper's in the same game, all while dishing out seven first half assists.

If he can keep that kinda load going, all the kudos in the world will come soon enough.

I've said this many times on here. Tatum's ceiling is league MVP candidate throughout his prime years, All-NBA's, and Top 5 player in the league during his prime. He's 6'10 (in shoes?), versatile defender, willing passer, good rebounder, and a great scorer. He has the clutch gene and the star gene. For those who thought JB was the better overall player, you failed to properly project the full body of work of a prime Jayson Tatum. He's only going to get better folks.
He has the chance to go down as a Top 3 Celtic right there with Russell & Bird.

I did not think he’d ever be this level of man to man defender, if I’m being honest. I also wasn’t sure if he’d ever read the game at the level he already is.

I think we’re getting real close to using that generational description.

He’s top 5 to me rn and he just turned 24 2 months ago….we are so damn lucky y’all. I wish we could give him a 500 mill contract right now. The best has yet to come from JT. He’s only going to get better which is scary for the rest of the league

Since the bubble playoffs began, he’s played 24 playoff games. In that time he’s averaging 27/9/5 on a 58% TS, with a steal and block a game.

I don’t love predictions, but I’m feeling a monster game 3 from him.
