If not Brad, who?

I'm not entirely on board with the "fire Brad" crowd, but always open to new ideas and willing to see this team upgrading wherever it can.

This team is still young, but that reasoning is dwindling fast. They are on the verge of turning the corner, and some have tossed around the theory that Brad is better with a team of "try-hards" and will fall short with a more championship-ready roster.

Who do you see as the right fit if Brad isn't your guy?

Id rather have Brett Brown than Stevens out there. At least he's got a nice Northeastern accent during interviews.

Brad needs an elite assistant coach to be what Thibs was for Doc. The only difference is that offensive consistently is the weakness instead of defense. The team is capped without this under Brad.

Well, Brad never had a superstar. The closest thing was Kyrie and we all know what that guy is all about. And he's overrated anyway. In truth, we've never had a championship-ready roster since he's been here, so I think that narrative is false

Brad is an excellent coach and I'm sticking with him. Also because I can't see anyone better out there available.

I think this is a cop out answer. It's not like he's coaching the 2016 Celtics and we just hit a brick wall Cavaliers team. This team is more talented than the Raptors (as evident by their 2-0 lead) but it somehow got to a game 7. That's on Brad's poor coaching. This team just can't grind out a close win and when you actually look at each game, you can see Brad coached terribly.

Honestly I'd prefer Doc.

Brad. Unless you’re convincing Spo to come up. Pop maybe, but he’s getting old and it would feel heretical.

Maybe a bit more talented but I don't think the gap is that big. Their roster is much better built, in part because Masai has done a much better job at the draft.

We're playing Semi Ojeleye, Grant Williams and Brad Wanamaker off the bench, for crying out loud. And our backup big (Timelord) is as raw of a player as it gets. Add Hayward's injury to that and it's not really a surprise we have a series on our hands.

I blame Brad for game 3. Playing Kanter in the 3rd quarter was a mistake, and that last play of the game was terrible. He's at fault there. But also deserves credit for the Ws, or are we just gonna talk about Brad when we lose?

He's done an excellent job this season. Most people predicted a huge drop off defensively without Horford and Baynes, coupled with the addition of Kanter, and we ended up as a top5 defense (as well as a top5 offense). On top of it, both Jaylen and Jayson have made huge strides, and while they deserve most of the credit for it, the coach should also get some praise there.

Thibodeau - defensive specialist, probably a more respected coach by players.

But this post should be about Brad.
Brad's free flowing offense does not work in the NBA especially during offseason. We need to have clear set of rules who is taking the last shot , Kemba or JT and that is Brad's job. Without that structure players are lost. And IF that does not change we will see another epic choke performance by Kemba or JT.

Look at the raptors what they are doing. Nick Nurse put's his players in their roles. Everyone knows what to do. That is how you put a winning championship team aside from the last shot from Powel - I think it was just pure disrespect by Nurse and a signal to Brad. Come-on' you are in an elimination game and you give Freaking Norman Powel the last shot ? Shows to me how cocky they are. But there is nothing we can do about it, watch carefully how they play each possession. There offense is just simply better structured, because players know their role. It's that simple.

Is Brad the one missing shots and turning the ball over at crucial times is he?

Great thread.

No he isn't. But he is one who is supposed to tell them who is going to take the last shot. We tried that free flowing offense crap for the entire season. You can't expect players to adjust to that in such a short time. That is why you got this epic choke performance by JT and Walker in game 6.

I still believe in Brad. Everyone calling for his head needs to take a deep breath.

I think Kemba cost us this game, he came up emty on so many crunch time possessions, just dribbling around then taking a tough shot at the end of the shot clock. Not Brad's fault, though they should've gone away from Kemba there. But I guess Brad trusted him to deliver.

Raptors really nailed some tough shots in this one, and they benefited from some really poor calls against the Celtics. It's devastating, but it is what it is. That's why they're champs.

At some point the seat will get too hot for Brad because I think he will continue to fail in the playoffs.

I'd give Donovan a look. If only there was a way to get Carlisle.

Brad is a very good coach, but eventually the lack of adjustments is going to catch up to him. Just mho..

Kemba Walker did have a layup right at the end of regulation? He got fouled. That is a pretty good shot.

Brad did draw up the lob ATO to Jaylen in the first overtime to tie the game right? That was pretty good.

The final play of the 2nd OT was pretty great considering the situation too. 5 Seconds left, down 3, with no timeouts left. That is an almost impossible position to get a decent 3 pointer without them fouling. Smart got a decent look and Kemba was also there if he dumps it off. You have to give Smart the ball, because he is the only guy who can receive that pass. If you inbound in the backcourt, they just foul. You have to go long and it almost has to be Smart.

There are things to complain about, but last shots are not it.

If you are worried about adjustments, Donovan is not your guy.

Then how do u explain those stupid iso actions by both JT and Kemba in the 4th, when we could not buy a basket for god's sake ? That is gotta be on the coach. Pop would never tolerate that kind of crap from his players. There is must be a plan and structure in place right ?
