I'm still holding to that Bulpett nugget from last summer "Rondo will be waiting for the call".

Unfortunately I just cannot see him leaving the Lakers if they make any kind of effort to keep him, especially since the Celtics can't offer more than 5-6m per year. Maybe if Ainge offers a longer deal, retire-at-home type of deal, he'd take less.

But Rondo, Jrue, Brown, Tatum, Turner would be wonderful. People talk about Rondo & AD chemistry, but Rondo and Jrue was poetry in NOLA. They've become great friends, work out together in the offseason

Come Home Rondo. Teach this team Celtic pride. 3 years at the MLE and we can retire 9 afterwards.

Bring back the beast! We have unfinished business rondo. Help us win banner 18. It's the least you can do after helping the lakers tie us.

If it is too much for Lakers who can offer him up to 10m per year then it is probably too much for Celtics too. Maybe 6m was too much for Lakers, but I expect Rondo to get at least 7-8m. Maybe we could entice him with a 3/19 to retire in Boston?

Brad can't coexist with Rondo. There's reason why Ainge doesn't go for big ego players. You might aswell make Rondo as a playing head coach.

Can Rondo just take the first 72 games off and show up in the playofffs? I can't recall someone who looks so washed in the regular season who can just take over in the playoffs like Rondo can.

Because our coach is soft as hell. Imagine not bringing in a player that could help your team because you're afraid your coach is too weak to keep him in check. Kinda pathetic tbh.

At 33 years of age and in his 13th season, shouldn’t Rondo still be with the Celtics on the back nine of a career that will see his No. 9 take up residence in the Garden rafters? I asked him flat out what he’s doing HERE.

“Boston didn’t call,” he replied with no hesitation.

“Looking back at it, I have no regrets. I couldn’t control the injury, and that I think led to the breakup of the Big Three. So I had a hell of a run there, and those were probably the best days of my basketball career.”

But there are still more days to come.

“I feel like I’ve still got four or five more years, but I don’t know where I’ll be,” said Rondo, who’ll be a free agent this summer and waiting for a call.

It couldn't be more obvious he would like to come back. Quit **** around Danny :noway:

He has a player option. He could go back to the Lakers if he wanted.

Rondo would be the perfect 6th man for this team. Especially in the playoffs in limited time.

I wonder what the situation is LAL is. From reading the acticles one way to look at it is that the Lakers think someone else will pay Rondo more and he will leave. Anyone know their cap situation? Is it possible, Rondo wants to stay but it doesn't make financial sense for them to keep him?

I guess I'm really wondering if there is a team out there that wants to pay a lot for him or if the money will all be the same and it comes down to where he wants to go.

I'd love a Rondo return. He can still play and maybe teach some of the young guys a few things. My only worry is that without a Lebron or a strong head coach he'll be tough to control. But that really says more about the lack of leadership on our team and lack of strength at head coach. I think Kemba probably smooths over a lot of those issues.

I know it's Ric Bucher, but he managed to get Rondo on a two part podcast last summer at some LA restaurant, seemed to get along with him. Might have some info directly from RR.

i think leadership has been an issue with our young talented group and oddly Rondo can bring ab different type of leadership to the flood. Rondo is still inconsistent as a player and will range from non rotational to 6th man but his experience as a young player winning, to star, to almost out of the league, and finally his reemergence as key rotational peice is a journey that the young Celtic stars can take lessons out of.
