Hard to say without knowing what other moves we make.

You can use him as PF paired with a center like Kanter or Theis or Timelord esp. if he keeps improving his stroke from 3. You can also use him as a switchable smallball C situationally. He fared well against Bam in the short time they were matched up in the ECF.

Per cleaningtheglass.com, we had a +9.5 net rating with Grant as the 4 good for 95th percentile and +6.3 net rating (87th percentile) with him at the 5. About 2/3 of his playing time was spent as PF, a little over 1/3 as C (in the regular season).

I for one would like to see a Hayward-Brown-Tatum-Williams-Williams lineup. Hoping for more creative combos from Stevens next season esp if we're mostly healthy.

^^This is correct.

So it's most likely backup 4 for Grant with occasional stints as backup 5.

Tatum’s really a 3 though.

No. If the Celtics are lucky then Grant Williams will be a very good consistent role player

See, I would have started him at the 4 this year, bringing Jaylen and/or Hayward off the bench to create better balance in our rotation (and to put Grant in a role where he could play to his strengths).

But I think it's greedy to expect more than 15 quality minutes per game from Grant, on a good team.

For brad's offense, he's not dynamic enough to play the 4. I feel him more of a small ball 5. I loved it against most teams when he was at the 5. Was best 3pt shooter at the 5 we had, also rebounded well on both ends, could switch onto guards and defend 3 and paint, and although he doesn't have the height and explosion to block shots like timelord, he gets his long hands up and makes a good effort to force a harder shot.

I wish we did more of this... Kemba/Tatum as Curry, Grant/Hayward as Draymond, and Timelord/Brown/Theis at the dunker spot.

Please someone send this to Stevens. Feels like something easy to replicate/run.

That's how I see him. A Good backup PF, and small-ball C.
He can start in stints, if there are injuries.

I hope not. He is too small and he is not particular long or athletic.

Probably not, but I do hope we find that future 4 as I prefer Tatum primarily as a 3.

Absolutely not he is a semi replacement that won't ever avg more than 8ppg. Regression of his freshman year 3% mark is in full effect ( thats what happens when you have short arms in a big ol league) he basically is semi strong enough and smart enough to know where to be and old his own. However saying that he is more expensive than semi and has lower 3% lower ft% and weighs four lbs less lol. Not ever going to be a good starter, maybe he gets better but I doubt it.

one year that he shot 25% in the regular season, but over 50% in the playoffs (limited mins), made game winning blocks at the 3pt line and he has already regressed out of the nba.......

He had a positive net rating for a reason.

Grant could be a PJ Tucker or even Horford type which would allow the Celtics to go really big with Jaylen as the 2nd smallest guy on the floor (taller than Grant but less bulky).

He is a future starter level minutes player. Maybe he starts or maybe he goes more of the Smart route.

Dont twist my words I said regression of the 3%
Don't get all mad I'm a facts guy and the fact is he shot 25%
He is on a rookie contract far from being out of the league look at semi he is in he league because of his clip and strength . Maybe he gets there but not this year
