https://www.slamonline.com/nba/aaron-nesmith-draws-all-star-comparison-from-jerry-stackhouse/
Stackhouse, who was Nesmith’s head coach at Vanderbilt, was one of the league’s stars at the turn of the millennium. A 1996 All-Rookie selection (Michael Jordan was the Rookie of the Year), “Stack” would go on to earn two All-Star selections and earn a reputation as one of the league’s top scorers.

All that noted, while career accolades and a lengthy NBA career don’t mean that you’re a great evaluator of talent, Stackhouse’s belief in Nesmith’s All-Star potential is valuable.

“We compare him to Khris Middleton,’’ Stackhouse told Marc Berman of the New York Post in an email Sunday. “He’s perfect for the wing spot. He has the size. He has the strength and in addition to being a shooter, he is dedicated to the defensive side as well.”

disappointed we didn't trade up. but this is a weird draft - deep in spots but overall don't think it's going to be great. gotta think we're adding a vet big and another vet somewhere along the way.

I think literally every draft expert had Nesmith ranked higher then Joe, Nesmith was projected as a top 15 pick in the vast majority of professional mocks. I don't get the hate, I can understand some uncertainity, he got injured and put up points vs bad competition but the hate is unfounded if he averaged waht he did between his 2 years he is a 42% 3 point shooter, that is pretty good. He is long, athletic and a gym rat.

I don't hate the Nesmith pick, but it is possible.

Joe has some upside that could really pop in the league. His shooting is legit, legit. Smooth as hell, even off the dribble.

I think he got way overdrafted because he had a hot 14 game stretch shooting is all. He is a blackhole offensively and doesn't look like anything special defensively. He's long, but does he do anything defensively? Not really seeing it. I just think it's terrible value from these picks to end up with Nesmith and Pritchard.

Feel like rocket. Everyone has dead people. Can you give me 2 mins of highlights instead of who they know is dead?

To be honest NBA players and former NBA players have shown very little ability to judge NBA prospects.

I'd put more stock in "an anonymous scout said this..." tweets that could just be a RealGM poster putting that in front of their tweet than Stackhouse's talent evaluation.

Absolutely. I have dead people as well.

Maybe, hopefully he stays healthy, so we can feed him real minutes this year.

If we drafted a big, he would struggle in year 1 and everyone would give up again like there is no possible room for development. Everybody from last year is already a bust.

Probably another Kanter type who won't help much during the playoffs.

Meet this year's Mr. Irrelevant, Sam Merrill, picked by the Milwaukee Bucks.

That’s if they pan out. Would feel much better if Ainge picks up a vet shooter.
