I've been thinking in terms of:
Kemba
Smart
JB
JT
TT or DT

But we could also go something like:
Kemba
JB
JT
Grant?
TT or DT
and leave Smart to rule the bench mob.

Or
Kemba/Teague
JB/ Smart
Tatum
Theis/GW
Thompson/RW

With Smart getting full 6th man minutes

Yeah that's an option but I don't really see Brad starting Theis and Thompson together. Rarely have two bigs on the floor at the same time.

If we start two bigs, it's most likely with Grant at the 4.

Also wouldn't rule out Nesmith starting for the spacing with Smart coming off the bench.

I think Marc should have stuck with his plan to ride off into the sunset and finish his career in Spain. Dude is washed.

Lakers are downgrading from Howard to Gasol. And the Raps lost Ibaka and Gasol so they def need a big. Maybe that's where Baynes ends up.

The Lakers are just trying to lower the price for Hassan Whiteside.

We are fine there. It’s not a major need.

I expect Grant to be more ready and get more minutes going into his 2nd season. He can play PF/C/ and SF. I expect his offensive game to improve along with his rebounding.

I'm not really feeling Grant as a wing, or, honestly Semi. They can both play there. But neither are wings that are going to do typical wing things that people are saying we're short on - shot creation, penetration, etc. They are at best 3&D, stand in the corner wings.

Except neither can really shoot.

Grant was smoking in the playoffs! But, yeah, "at best'. They're really small ball 4s/5s.

I think of Grant and Semi as this team's "forwards" - a dying category.

You got to have your lead ball handler, and your rim defender. But in between those, I think the FO and Stevens like 2-4 to be as interchangeable as possible - call those the wings.

But, there are moments and matchups here and there where it's useful to have a second strong-as-an-ox player at the 4, though they still have to be modestly mobile. That's where Semi and Grant come in. You're not spending a lot to acquire those guys because they're situational, but it's useful to have one or two on the roster.

Definitely. Useful (Grant more so than Semi), but not what you're looking for when you say "this team could use another wing".

Upgrading from Teague to George Hill at the deadline would be nice. GIVE US THE TPE ALREADY!

Agreed. They are examples of the kind of player you're using for vestigial two-bigman lineups. Don't think of them as wings at all.

Are we short on shot creation on this team? Tatum Kemba, Smart, Teague, and to an extent, Jaylen. And if he does well, Pritchard. The shooting part is what it is, but ideally we've made the moves we've made so far this offseason so that we won't have to count on them to make shots as often as we did last year.

Korkmaz is annoying. Totally want him to hit 3s after your opponent plays great D.

Our starting lineup will likley be a bit fluid
1, PG's: Kemba/Teague/ Pritchard

2-3 Wings: Tatum/Brown/Smart/Nesmith/Langford

1-2 Bigs: TT, Thies, GW, Timelord

Against teams that play 1 biga
Kemba
Smart
Brown
Tatum
TT
Against 2 big man teams
Kemba
JB
JT
Thies
TT

Backup linup of
Teague
Smart
Nesmith
GW
Thies
could be intestesting, sometimes Langford will be in there as well

Philly didn’t even play Korkmaz in the playoffs. Not worth it

How about waiting until the off season is over

Actually, I am fine with that as long as we have a huge tpe.

At some point, our draft picks gotta play. Keep smart on bench. Romeo, Nesmith, Edwards compete for starting guard spot.

Knicks may make sense as a potential home for Batum in Ainge’s pursuit of a S&T TPE. Knicks saving cap space for next year. Batum has 1 year left.

Grant can shoot. His mental block to start like 0-25 brought down season average. He shot a ton of threes during the shutdown and was great in the bubble. Theis losing the ability to even take wide open threes killed us against the heat.
