Miami was in Miami. Saw them all. But the NBA doesn't want good refs, they want obedient robots.

yeah, i was pissed they didn't call a foul with 2 seconds left and give smart free throws for 1.6 seconds. Then i realized it means a sure victory and no chance at a tie by Miami.

I was straight up bad. To bad because other than butlers flailing and flopping it was an ok officiated game, and he gets 10 ft a game, about 4 that he should get.

Pretty sure it was bam who ran a beautiful NFL blocking pattern for a Dragic(?) 3. Straight up mugged the Celtic player with a 4x2 in front of the refs.

What was the point spread? The officials must have seen their bets slipping away when the Celtics jumped out to that 10 point lead.

I mentioned in the game thread that it was a BS call on Tatum giving Duncan Robinson that 4 pt play. Tatum never touched him.

The best case scenario is that NBA officiating is corrupt.

I wish that were true, but it's just really good and I want everyone that's an NBA fan to listen to it so maybe eventually the league will feel some pressure to change things.

Even though the L2M’s are retroactively worthless, I do appreciate the transparency and hopefully they archive all these bad calls for training purposes.

At least it ended up being a win. Woof.

I'm only on episode 2, but man, that podcast is great. And depressing. Sometimes it doesn't matter how well a team plays, they're going to be at the mercy of these betting officials.

Did Stevens even have a challenge remaining at that point? If that wasn’t a foul, we could have had a 4pt lead, and probably won safely.

Yes, i think he did, but we all know he won't be challenging those calls.

I'm really not surprised. I see piss poor calls all the time. I've felt for a many many years that NBA refs were worse than Big Time Wrestling refs. You remember those refs. They were the ones who didn't see one guy use a metal folding chair to knock out their opponent. The NBA favors home teams, favors the stars and favors going 7 games for more TV money. It would not surprise me at all if someday there is irrefutable proof of fixed games and point shaving.

Listening to the podcast was the best and worst thing. It’s cool because it confirmed my suspicions that the league was in on it.....but now it makes me question our previous titles, it will make me question the titles that we may win down the road, and it makes me sad thinking about the titles we lost (2010!). Lakers have benefited the most from the league. God forbid the Knicks ever get their **** together and get a contending team. I’m already cringing at the calls they’ll get.

Ironically, I find myself getting a lot less angry with the officiating now that I know it's corrupt, whereas before it's right in front of your face but every member of the media is gaslighting you. Regardless of the fact that the officials and/or the league put their thumb on the scales, it's still the highest level of basketball and usually enjoyable to watch, but the W-L outcomes have lost a ton of meaning. We definitely got robbed in 2010, but the worst in history was what the refs did to Dallas in '06. They got massively **** solely because Cuban was an outspoken critic of the refs (for those that haven't listened there's some interesting stuff tangential to this and you'll get to see why Cuban isn't so outspoken anymore).

Celtics won so all's well that ends well but but this is exactly why leaving the game in the refs hands doesn't always end well.

at least give more challenges to each coach. if coaches had 3 they would not be afraid of using their one challenge too early.
