Here's what the Rockets are going to do: they're going to field mediocre teams that barely make the playoffs. Or at least attempt to do so. Fertitta just seems like one of those owners who sees his te primarily as a money earning asset. With how tanking has been neutered (you only have to be one of the 4 worst teams and even then, there's a 50% chance you fall out into the 5th pick), there's not much of an incentive for the owner to want to opt into multi year basement dwelling that doesn't guarantee him as much revenue . It's why they got Oladipo instead of LeVert.

Whrther or not those Nets picks work out make them closer to a contende, but that's a long time. Until there's a change in ownership, I don't see them being contenders barring multiple miracles falling on their laps in the next few years.

there's only one thing Houston should do this season. TANK. Tank harder then any team has tanked before.

They should really copy our rebuild in the early stages. Make a million trades as long as the trade gains them something, no matter how small. Remember that year we had like 100 trades? Its like that story where the guy has a paper clip and he keeps trading it until he ends up with Kyrie Irving who then leaves in free agency to become the CEO of the illuminati.

Tank and draft well. Oladipo is just a rental. Send him home, call it contact tracing or whatever. Then unload as many veterans as you can.

They can compete with Oklahoma City for the Sam Hinkie Process Award.

Rockets should trade Dipo to Miami for picks and youth
And they should trade wood and Tucker to us for picks and youth and TPE.

Like ddb said, if their pick is Top 4, it doesn't go to OKC and the obligation for This pick is extinguished.

Why should the Heat give assets for Dipo when they can get him for nothing next Summer?

I dont figure they would give much. An expiring and a pick of some sort to get him now as opposed to later. Trading now does, iirc, net them bird rights, making resigning players a little easier.

My first priority if it is humanly possible/legal under NBA rules, would be try to create a "win win" with OKC. OKC obviously won the Chris Paul trade by a tremendous amount. But maybe that compensation can be lessened/redone as a part of another trade if Houston agrees to tank hard for OKC for a few years. Try to create win/win situation.

After possibly working something out with OKC, I would trade vets for bad contracts/picks.

If the team is lousy/unwatchable for a few years, discount season tickets.
