As I keep saying, stop looking at the personnel and instead look at how badly the guys they have are playing right now. The problem isn't roster construction, it's bad, selfish basketball.

This is where my head has been at beginning the season. Once Hayward was gone my expectations on this team dropped significantly. Just not enough contributing veterans to take them to the next level this year. I am content with letting JT & JB learn to run the team and seeing what the younger guys can do. It has been more painful than I expected though because Kemba & Tristan have not performed well and the lack of practice time hurts the team with this type of young roster. The level of compete seems to be lacking more than expected though and that is not typical with a Stevens coached team.

lol no, they have a garbage roster outside of Brown/Tatum/Smart/Payton.

No, they don't have a "garbage roster." Theis is a good player, and so is Timelord. Nesmith shows promise. And Kemba is fine when the shots go in. But he's been forcing them lately instead of passing the ball.

The way the NBA salary structure is at the moment, every team has a few highly paid stars and then a bunch of filler. Sometimes it's primarily young filler, as with the Celtics, and sometimes it's older filler, like the Clippers. To be kind, the call the filler "role players."

No star big man. Timelord shows promise but is not ready. Theis is average role player at best. Kemba is 30yo, undersized, and useless when his shot is off. In fact he actually is a net negative when shot is not falling.

As per the usual, we have too many guards, no interior defense, no post scoring, empty words all around the team from players, coach, and GM. This team has been treadmill for 13 years.

They have let free agents go for nothing, missed on on all-star talent in draft, single dimension guard team, that no one is scared to play.

AN ADD TO THAT NO EFFORT

Garbage team

Meh. Why overpay and over-the-hill player like Horford? As for Hayward, they say the greatest ability is availability-- and he wasn't. The biggest mistake with Kyrie was acquiring him in the first place.

As for missing in the draft-- yes. That goes back to 2013. But Ainge has made some good picks: Smart, Brown (instead of someone like Bender), Tatum (instead of Fultz), Timelord, Pritchard. The jury is out on Nesmith. We've seen the D but we haven't seen the 3. As for Langford, he is never available either, but he's still young.

The contrast between the way they have played after Smart went down vs the games in the Orlando bubble last year is striking. It's like they have forgotten how to play.

There seem to be serious trust issues. I remember when Pierce would never pass the ball to Jiri Welsch, even when Welsch was wide open. Tatum, Brown and Kemba don't trust the young players, except perhaps Pritchard. But they have to keep passing out of the double teams and eventually we will find out who can deliver and who can't.

Defintely. I'm not sure where this idea came that you have to roll 5 All-Stars put there. Lakers have a couple All-NBAers and a bunch of guys you see on every roster in the league.

There is nothing roster-wise holding this team back. They could probably use one more scorer off the bench but overall they are fine.

We all know it didn't work out. But had we never gotten lucky we wouldn't have such high expectations. If Ainge had not made 2 good trades, people wouldn't be calling for him to be fired. When you think about it that way it seems kind of silly.

Um, sure he found good value in Thomas, which he flipped. But he can't draft for ****, and then he only wants "steals" in trades. So, he runs the same subpar underachieving nonsense, and allows Stevens to keep up with his bs. Zero accountability, always an excuse, for the entire team.
