I got on Smart for shooting us out of the game in OT against the Grizzlies, but I don't think he's at fault for this loss. He was great at firing the guys up which led to that comeback; if it wasn't for him they probably would've just folded. I know that doesn't translate into stats, but love him or hate him, that's leadership right there. The sad thing is he might get traded by tomorrow.

Leadership by example is better. He can do all the cheering from the bench at crucial times.

Tatum and Brown have been saying all season that they want to "lead by example." How's that working out for them? They're not inspiring this team with their leadership style.

Besides, Smart isn't to blame for this loss, I don't know why people are ragging on him on other forums and on Twitter. The three he missed that would've put us up was wide open, he had to take it. And on one of the final plays, Brown flopped and fell to the ground, effectively taking himself out of the play that led to a bad possession. And it was Smart who found a wide-open Theis for a three that could've won them the game.

Smart has lots of warts, but what he brings to the table (defense, leadership, facilitating, hustle) more than makes up for what people criticize him for.

It’s ok to miss shots here and there, but come on man, Smart have been missing crucial shots for several games already. He is just not reliable to deliver during those crucial times. He can’t be our starting pg or sg. We need someone that can shoot, and not shoot us out of the game. Plus his defense have been overrated lately. Remember how Morant and Dillon Brooks clowned him last game. That’s one on one single coverage. He might be the leader of this team, but no matter how he preach and talk, if he can’t back it up during the game, then it all means nothing. He is just not starter material. He is not a good passer, not a good shooter. His handles are average for a guard. He is just a hustle player that is good at defemse. Overrated!

Talent is one for sure but there is a lot of problems with this team with the way they play, the way they defend, the effort they’re putting in, the togetherness of everybody being locked in, communication, I can go on. I don’t know how it can get to this point even with no moves being made after making the conference finals a few months ago.

This all day long. If we mix it up, and this continues, then what? They're arguably the most underperforming team in the league.

I didn't hear the huddle but would've liked to. The lack of urgency and pace is appalling. It seems they think they’re better than they are. Where's the culture to ball out for 48 minutes? Slow starts, deep holes, not finishing quarters. :banghead:

For the people complaining about Brad...
Imagine having Budenholzer instead. Imagine having a 25pt lead only to win because Theis missed an open shot. Imagine your reaction.
Brad ain't the best. Far from it. But he's about 10 times better than Budenholzer. And the Bucks are supposed to be contenders with this coach.
Messi. Jordan. Ali. Bolt. Senna. Serena. Karelin. Phelps. Rossi. Suleymanoglou. The GOATs.

So much of this. Sure, they have to play a hard 48 minutes to overcome flaws, but so does other teams. Look at the Buck's in the 4th, they didn't match our energy, and they nearly lost.

Don't ever want to hear from the Theis crowd on his ability to space the floor as a reason to keep him.

He's never hit a meaningful shot in his life even though he's wide open in every situation. Worthless. Good bye.

Think its clear this team has serious chemistry problems. Guys just don't like each other. Danny needs to make some chemistry moves as well as talent upgrades.

They seem to like each other in pregame. Roster moves could incrementally help the team, yes, but isnt our record, in fairness, more on Brad than Danny. The Hawks 8 game run began with a coaching move not the roster.

The Hawks' 8 game run began with playing a bunch of garbage teams including Lakers without AD or Lebron.

Right, 'cept for Kemba. Near the end, did you see that play where he snapped his head back? Maybe an arm hair scratched  That's definitely rubbing off on a lot of our guys, Smart, Tatum, Brown.

batabatuta wrote:Smart's not the problem, it's the Jays. They are supposed to take over not their 6th man nor anybody else on the roster. They tried to act as leaders but in truth they are betas. If this was MJ or Kobe, they'd be furious for not taking that shot. If this was Duncan, he'd hold Smart accountable in the locker room and make sure he doesn't chuck three's ever again. If this was Steph, he'd whisper Draymond into his ear to whip Smart's ass LOL. It is what it is. Some players have it, some don't. The Jays need to stop playing nice and establish that pecking order. In 2008, everyone on that team knew their role. Now they can't seem to control Smart and just lets him be.

That's how Bird rolled. Once when Walton started for Chief, Bird told Walton before the game to not even think about taking Chief's shots
