My biggest disappointment is that Kemba Walker is still a Celtic, but I'm delighted that Marcus Smart is too.

So, who are we trading for/signing in the summer?

This is the same roster that made the ECF last year which is why it's so frustrating to watch how bad they are. Fournier will help a lot imo.
Hoping these moves means Pritchard, Nesmith, and Langford get more burn but unfortunately we all know Semi will still be getting minutes over them.

Tatum will need to play more PF so that Kemba, Smart, and Fournier will all get lots of minutes.

In the other thread you asked if we'd have to dump Kemba to have financial flexibility.
In terms of sign guys through FA, yes. But there should be no luxury tax concerns. By avoiding the tax this year, we would not be subject to any repeater rates for the foreseeable future. Kemba's deal will expire before it comes to that.
I'd anticipate that Ainge has ownership approval to do the full amount possible this offseason:
1) re-sign Fournier using bird rights
2) acquire a player with the remaining $11M on the TPE
3) add a tax payers's MLE signing
4) use the smaller Kanter and new Theis TPEs
I would anticipate significant role player upheaval this offseason. The deadline action today set the stage for that by acquiring Fournier's bird rights while avoiding the tax.

Who is this Langford guy you speak of?

Holy crap Irving and Harden are going to absolutely torch Kemba/Fournier on defense if we match up with them. We might get swept

They're torching any defense lol who cares. If they're healthy they're running through this conference. I care more about the future of this team and getting Nesmith, Pritchard, Timelord, and Langford more opportunity. Nothing is going to change dramatically until next year so it is what it is.

No trade or player that was available would have moved the needle. We are not a title contender and wasting good assets when Beal is the next star available would have been foolish. It is a wasted year. But when Brooklyn got HArden it became a moot point.

I still think Beal is the main target

Stevens better come up with a defensive scheme that will not only cover for Kemba and Fournier but also Thompson who is much worse at defense than Theis.

Not via trade but if he hits free agency yes. I believe he is available when Kemba's deal comes off the books too but could be wrong. That's really the last chance they have to add something significant

The crashed ship is the Celtics.
The two little people are Austin Ainge and Danny Ainge, with their trade deadline "moves".

Would have loved to see Smart/JB/JT/Gordon/Williams against that Nets squad. Fire offense vs Ice defense

Smart valued way too much here... hoping they can make a package out of him this summer

We used the TPE, at least. Hype aside, they’re almost never used - and if you look at the players making 27.5 or less next season, pickings were slim. Our only hope would have been absorbing a free agent..
Still, this feels like it was the time to strike, to overpay if necessary. Gordon, Collins, Ball are difference makers. You can’t give up two 1sts for Gordon/Fournier? How many young players do you need? And it’s much easier to find a player who gives you high caliber defense like Smart than a big with the offensive versatility of Collins.
We’re just stuck now with no way to get better but internal development. Are we going into the tax next year for Fournier? We have no filler contracts to pair with young players, we burned the TPE, we apparently can’t afford to trade Smart, Kemba is currently dead weight.

It’s 10 million on the TPE, Fournier makes 17.5 million. Who are you getting in that price range?
