Where this game got out of hand was at the end of the 2nd when Luka went super nova. The Mavs shot very well and a good portion of that was due yo how great Luka is finding them.
Some additive factors that buried the Celtics last night:
1. Wagner's slow footnesses and bad defensive decisions lead to compromised rotations.
2. Kemba's game is predicated on making quick shots and attacking. When he's on, it's not an issue. When he's not, the possession is wasted as it ends early.
3. Kornet was a bit better than Wagner, but neither is the guy you want to close.
4. There wasn't enough defensive energy to chip into the lead.
I thought the Jays did fine, not great. The Celtics needed one of them to go toe to toe with Luka for this game specifically. Both Jays were moving the ball on offense. They could have attacked the basket more.
Ultimately, the Celtics could only hang on with their best humming. To me, the Celtics don't work the opposing defense enough. They bail them out with quick early shots and don't get them scrambling.
