Victory Cigar!!! BOS 116, CHA 86 (25-25)

Post#1 » by GoCeltics123 » Mon Apr 5, 2021 12:17 am

I don't think this was their best performance of the year, but defensively it definitely was. They shut down the depleted Hornets after another terrible defensive start.

I know Tatum closed, but man oh man was Fournier the difference tonight. Romeo's defense was great too, but this was Evan's coming out party here. He's not going to shoot that well every night, but he made some great passes and his defensive IQ was absolutely fantastic. So Evan's VC tonight for me

No such thing as "too many mouths too feed" when you know how to share the food. 29 assists. Starters + Fournier in double figures. Nobody taking more than 15 shots.

Not much competition tonight. Don't get too excited about a weak opponent. Second injury for Hayward this year, which I was expecting, so I still think they made the right move moving on.

An alternative view:

+23 Robert Williams III (25 minutes)

+16.5 Evan Fournier (22 minutes)
+15 Jaylen Brown (26 minutes)

+11 Marcus Smart (28 minutes)
+10.5 Kemba Walker (26 minutes)

+4.5 Mo Wagner (9 minutes)
+4.5 Aaron Nesmith (12 minutes)
+3 Payton Pritchard (17 minutes)
+2.5 Tacko Fall (4 minutes)
+2.5 Tremont Waters (6 minutes)
+2 Luke Kornet (9 minutes) = "The Green Kornet"
+2 Romeo Langford (12 minutes)

+0.5 Grant Williams (8 minutes)

Big Fourn!

Thought Evan played a terrific all around game from beginning to end. It was fun watching JT cook in the 3rd too.

Going with Fournier for his timely shots and presence, shoutout Tatum for his 3rd quarter takeover and Romeo's stint in the 2nd

I voted Tatum because he played smart. Took only 15 shots (most on the team) and dished out 4 assists. Fournier had a very solid game too.

In the meantime, no one's paying attention but Timelord has gotten closer to the top of the PER ranking league-wide, now sitting pretty in 4th place: https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/4066211/robert-williams-iii

Think Tatum was the best player, but Fournier gets my vote, Rob was good too.

On the topic of Tatum and ball stopping, this stat puts it in perspective some. He absolutely holds onto the ball too long, but I think he’s a pretty willing passer, for the most part.

He has excellent court vision, is able to thread the needle on many passes, and has some of the best gravity in the NBA. In fact, according to BBall Index’s player tracking statistics, Jayson Tatum has the 3rd-best scoring gravity in the NBA and the 9th-best playmaker rating among starting forwards.

Gonna go with Marcus today, eliminated Rozier from the game when he was on him, made nice passes all game, don’t expect much from him shooting but he hit his threes too on top of that. All around a great game from Smart. This is the type of game I’m used to seeing from the cobra in the past.

Like when Rob was in his early days playing limited minutes I was excited to see more of him, same goes for when I see Romeo play. I think he can be a great defender for this team, still has a lot of work to do like shooting the ball but his potential is intriguing. Pritch has been solid all season. The bench crew looking pretty good now with Fournier out there and TT coming back.

A win against the Sixers on Tuesday will be huge for the team.

Tatum had a superstar stretch and I feel like rewarding that.

Fournier and Williams were excellent.
Jaylen carried them a bit early when I was sure they were going to turtle and get down by 20.
NICE JOB NOT DOING THAT that’s real progress this year lol.
On to the next. Keep building. Adding Fournier was great, and Romeo obviously just takes us to another exalted level:)

Jaylen brought us back and kept us in the game in the 1st. Fournier pushed us over and Tatum broke it wide the **** open like a savage. Voting Fournier because I though he was solid the entire time he was out there.

Great win against a solid team.. They were missing their top guys but we beat the crap out of them like we were supposed to.

Sixers, Knicks and Wolves next. Great tests for Robert going against Embiid, Towns and Randle.
A new dawn will rise in Boston. ‎#StayLoyal THANK YOU TRUTH!

Just like I thought would happen they were going to play the game the right way and win by 20. Of course I was incorrect about how much they'd win by but my point still stands.

The team looked good but let's see what happens when they play a real team and not a developmental league team or a team missing three of its best players.

If they beat the sixes I'll slightly buy into the team. History shows this season when they play a real NBA team they tend to not pass the ball, go long stretches without scoring, play terrible defense and lose the game.

I wanted to vote for Romeo Langford for his defense but voted for Rob Williams III.
