My prediction:

Wins: Wolves (X2) Lakers, Warriors, Bulls (X2) Hornets (X2) Thunder, Magic, Heat, Cavs,

Losses: Nuggets, Blazers (X2) Suns, Nets, Spurs, Heat, Knicks

12-8 over the next 20.

Final record 38-34.

38-34 sounds right. Even before Fournier trade, I said Celtics would finished 3-5 games above .500. They played a moderately tougher schedule in first half of the year and now the schedule eases up a bit and you have a few more teams not even trying to win.

That would be great.

And we finish where?
Do we get to the 4 or 5 seed?

Man the east is so bunched up and weird after the 3rd seed its tough to figure out. I think the hornets are going to plummet and they are currently the 4th seed. I said today they would get the 7th or 8th but I guess I will go with them ending up with the 6th seed and playing the bucks in round 1.

Celtics are a .500 team 26-26. I expect them to go 10-10 the rest of the way and finish at 36-36.

What have the Celtics shown for anyone to think any differently?

The only way that changes significantly is if:
1) Tatum starts playing like an ascending Super Star once again consistently;
2) Fournier comes back next week not impaired by the Covid;
3) Timelord/Kardashian blend their skills into a competent front line;
4) JB continues to mostly excel & limits his TOs/plays tough D;
5) Our glue piece Cobra focuses on D, careful playmaking & occasional shot making; &
6) Kemba stops shooting as much.

I don't know. I feel like there's some winnable games on there. Good lord, if we don't beat Orlando I'm outta here! lol

But there's also a few tough games on there too. I wouldn't say it looks like a cupcake schedule or a brutal schedule. It is what it is. If we can get healthy and play the way we're capable of playing then I like our chances..

So far this season, our top 9 players have played in only 71% of the team's games. But rest of the season they are slated to play in 97% of the team's games. That's a pretty massive difference. Enough for me to me to pick them to go 13-7 the rest of the way, especially since the schedule is a little easier rest of the way.

So that puts us at 39-33, which should be good to finish with the 4 seed.

We need ALL of those things to happen in order to simply go 1 game over .500 the rest of the way? Jeez, I don't know. I figure if literally every one of those things happen we're gonna go 14-6, maybe even 15-5.

I suppose you're tempering your expectations, or pessimistic about the team like most fans seem to be..

If all of that happens, we will go 15-5, and we will have a chance to advance to the ECF.
If none of that happens, we will finish at 0.500 & the 6 or 7 seed.
Most likely, some of that will happen, and we will go 12-13/7-8 & have to fight like hell for the 4 or 5 seed.

Ok, we're pretty much in agreement then. I have them going 13-7.....12-8 if Fournier takes longer getting back.

From 2008 thru 2020 I was an optimist.

This year I would not be surprised with a 36-36 finish.

I hope it was worth my time initiating this thread & will be worth my time periodically updating it (I did the same thing down the stretch in the bubble).

Let’s go mother ****, get your **** together & bring it!

Only the Nets have a better record than the Celtics, post-trade-deadline. The East is weeeeaaaaak.

At the very least, if you havent given up on the season, the crowded standings make for some good scoreboard watching.

Was watching Miami best the Lakers last night. Now tonight Celtics have an easy must win game. Atlanta plays the post-deadline bulls and the hornets play the bucks. Should be a handful of relevant games every night the rest of the way.

A fully-healthy Heat had a hard time finishing off the Lakers who were missing AD, Lebron, THT, and Kuzma. Even Drummond was hobbled with an injured toe.

I might be fine with the Cs ending up as the 6th seed with a first round matchup vs. the Bucks.

5th seed should be the same as 4th this year, how many fans will be there?

I think we have a better than 70% chance to get at least 5th seed.

From there is is a literal cake walk to the finals.

I'm more concerned about our draft pick to be honest. Brown and Tatum could use a first round spanking and some motivation for the offseason. After tonight the schedule gets very hard for the next 2 weeks.

Most of our tough games occur in the next 8. If we do 4-4 over that stretch without Fournier, then I like our chances of taking 8 or 9 of the last 12. That would equate to 12-8 or 13-7 and, most likely, the 4th seed.
