Re: Around the NBA (Non-Celtics) 2020-21, Part 2
What? Atlanta up 3-2 over Philly?
But how could it be, when their top 4 scorers averaged age 23 this year, their two highest assist men were 22, their top 4 rebounds men also averaged age 22? And their top 4 in blocks averaged under age 22? Their top 2 in steals were 22?
Wasn't it asking way too much for leadership in winning games from our Jays, average age of 23, in their 4th and 5th years in the league?

Jazz are a joke. How do you lose to the clippers without Leonard? That coaching staff should be fired for that alone.

Danny Ainge's plan of eventually sending Doc to the Sixers is working out well.

George came up huge and you had that first-game-after-a-big-injury rally effect. Also, the value of tough D players like Morris is underrated.

Ha ha.
Kyrie to the Nets not so bad either.

They have a well balanced roster, and also filled with reliable vets off the bench. They have tons of shooters with reliable bigs that’s not 6’8 and below. Trae young scores a lot, but he also facilitates. Bogdanovic and gallinari are dead set shooters. Collins is a versatile big man that can post up and shoot the mid range. Capela is a force underneath. Can post up, block shots and rebounds like a beast. Their bench players are deep. Huerter, sweet lou, dunn, reddish, solomon hill, hunter, heck even snell is better than carsen and semi. Plus they were not afraid to pull the trigger on their head coach Pierce. After lingering below .500, their team took off when they sacked Pierce. Nate is the perfect coach for them. They will continue to get better with experience, and going to the conf finals will give them that. Meanwhile, we are stuck at having centers 6’8 and below, and bunch of diminutive point guards, with not enough shooters and a bunch of newbies. Rob williams is an undersized center, and if he loses his athleticism, he would be useless. He could be a back up, and used for small ball lineups. Tatum and beal would be a much better fit, than Tatum and Brown. Plus lets get bigger.

Their top assist guys and rebounders wouldn't have been 22 if their vets weren't injured for large portions of the season.

Reddish and Hunter are injured and Dunn doesn't play at all. Hill and Snell have been awful. The Hawks are winning because of their best 6 players, not their deep bench.

But they were. And they were seeded higher and have gone farther than the C's, who we are told couldn't have done better because 2 of the C's top players were just 22 and 24. (Somehow where the C's are concerned selfish play is the inevitable result of having 2 of your top players being young.)

Atlanta's main contributors in every category were exceptionally young, but they played as a smart, unselfish unit. Yet we are told that having 2 of our main contributors being relatively young means it is inevitable that we had mediocre, selfish play.

Reminder that in the Jaylen's ceiling thread many posters balked at the idea of Jaylen being worse than Trae Young.

It’s not about age really you are right. Plus the J’s technically ain’t young anymore. They’ve been to several conf finals to not know what it takes to win. It’s more about the offensive and defensive system that the team uses, and also the personnel that fit and balanced. We are more of an iso team the past years. We rely heavily on individual talent. The hawks share the ball. It’s also that they have a star that passes the ball well in Trae, and a bunch of dead set shooters. Also a good rim defender in Capela.

Trae Young has superstar potential. Jaylen doesn’t sadly.

Yup i agree they are winning because of their well balanced starters, plus 2 bench players, but still when fully healthy next season, they would even be better. Our team would still be composed of newbies, unless Stevens do something.

If Irving and Harden are on 70%, Nets will demolish anybody and everybody.
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Jaylen Brown has been to 3 ECF including one where veterans Kyrie and Hayward didn’t play. And how is he supposed to lead the Cs when he had season ending surgery? JB has beat the Sixers in the playoffs every time they’ve met. Pretty easily too. Let’s see Trae Young do it once before we start trashing JB.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with that. I'd spank the Jays a bit more directly for needlessly selfish play and hope they grow out of it, but I agree with your take. I'd be interested to see how the C's can rebalance and refresh their roster by trading Brown, Smart and Walker.
