And Agree, that the Celtics may end up doing so.
So is everybody except me sure that the Celtics would rather shed talent than just pay everybody?
Well count me as not being sure they would do it. I do think the pros do outweigh the cons. And Just my opinion, it would be a shame to me if they let Fournier go in lew of keeping Kemba and/or Smart. Fournier is exactly the kind of guy this team needs on the roster long term.
I'm against paying to turn Kemba into Al, but I've come around on the idea of turning him into Al for free. I can see a Knicks/Thunder 3-way where we get Al, Knicks get Kemba, Thunder free up money and minimal other assets/salary are involved - ie, not our first. Keep Fournier/Smart/'21 first. Al is a perfect 3rd big with Rob/TT. (other than his salary) - mentor the guys, play when others are hurt, sit/keep fresh for the playoffs when they're not, etc. And we save some $ off Kemba's salary. Fournier/PP/Nesmith and Al can all help make up for Kemba's scoring. And with Al/Fournier/PP you have some good passing/shooting.
