as well as getting rid of a potentially poor playoff defender.

Do the Pro's outweigh the Con's on this one?

I think I would and I think they do.

I'd definitely do that.
And Agree, that the Celtics may end up doing so.

So is everybody except me sure that the Celtics would rather shed talent than just pay everybody?

I think they want to re-sign Fournier, which everyone isn't convinced of, and I doubt they'd be ready to ship out Kemba for what the cost/return would be. They need a vet PG while they see what they have in PP and the Yam anyway. I think they should trade Smart before they have to reup with him, but I doubt they will.

Well count me as not being sure they would do it. I do think the pros do outweigh the cons. And Just my opinion, it would be a shame to me if they let Fournier go in lew of keeping Kemba and/or Smart. Fournier is exactly the kind of guy this team needs on the roster long term.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Some good and brutal takes in here. Smart's teammates are pretty rough on him--and he dumps on Pritchard.

I'm in the Trade Kemba Camp. -- Keep Smart (re-up) and Keep Fournier.
Some other pieces may or may not be good to keep. Parker, for instance, I wonder about.

They think Smart will be doing something where he has to be tough! Coach, warden, fighter and hustler! Grit and grime! I know a coach is the cleanest one he got but you know smart will be the cussing and fussing type! The hustler comment is exactly Smart, he gets it done no matter how dirty he has to get, his family gon eat!

I'm against paying to turn Kemba into Al, but I've come around on the idea of turning him into Al for free. I can see a Knicks/Thunder 3-way where we get Al, Knicks get Kemba, Thunder free up money and minimal other assets/salary are involved - ie, not our first. Keep Fournier/Smart/'21 first. Al is a perfect 3rd big with Rob/TT. (other than his salary) - mentor the guys, play when others are hurt, sit/keep fresh for the playoffs when they're not, etc. And we save some $ off Kemba's salary. Fournier/PP/Nesmith and Al can all help make up for Kemba's scoring. And with Al/Fournier/PP you have some good passing/shooting.

When JB comes back I'd really like to see Smart go back to the bench. Moving forward Kemba, Fournier, JB, and JT should all be good for 30+ minutes when they play and everyone else just fits in around them, and that includes Marcus. That's how I see it.

Yep, also sounds as if the C's and Fournier are still making eyes at each other for a new contract next year, which is good news. It would be very hard for this team to otherwise come up with another player of his caliber this offseason without giving up equal talent.

That's totally where I sit with this. I think you're 100% correct here. I think we have to do whatever we need to do to keep him.

I'm in Total Agreement. We need to re-sign Fournier.
He's been off, since coming to the Celtics. But, that's just circumstances. His abilities, will eventually shine through.
