Roster reset. As of now, the following players will be participating in training camp for us:

1. tatum
2. brown
3. horford
4. smart
5. schroder
6. richardson
7 robert williams
8 nesmith
9 pritchard
10 langford
11 kanter
12 Juancho hernangomez
13. Grant williams
14 bruno fernando
15 jabari parker

all 15 of them are under contract for this season, but Parker's contract is not guaranteed. A portion of his contract has already been guaranteed but most of it has not been guaranteed yet

We can have up to 20 players on the roster through end of training camp. The following players will also be in camp participating

16 Juwan Morgan (training camp contract)
17 Luke Kornet (training camp contract)
18 Theo Pinson (training camp contract)
19 Sam Hauser (2-way contract)

Who will be no. 20?

Either:
a) Brandon Goodwin (worked out for the team last week)
b) Anthony Brown (worked out for the team the week before)
c) Gary Clark (worked out for the team 2 days ago)
d) Some other player (Avery Bradley, Demarcus Cousins, Wes Matthews, etc.)
e) nobody. We'll just go to camp with 19 guys

Playing overseas this season but Celtics have NBA rights for both of them:
-Yam Madar
-Juhann Begarin

Article confirming Pinson signed training camp contract: https://www.celticsblog.com/2021/9/22/22687833/report-boston-celtics-add-theo-pinson-to-training-camp-roster

1 thing i like (knock on wood) is that we're going to training camp with 19 (or 20) healthy bodies. No one is injured, no one has COVID. Last year Kemba was obviously out for the whole camp, Thompson missed most of camp and I think Theis missed some of it too. Plus we had 2 rookies who literally just got drafted only like a month before camp plus Langford who was a 2nd year guy who barely played as a rookie. This year we're going to camp with a healthier, more experienced roster - and a deeper roster.

Again, knock on wood..

We usually go with 20 bodies, through most of Training Camp. I can't recall a time that we didn't?

On a Side Note:
I think that we should have increased from 8 Pre-season games; instead of decreasing it to 4.
IMO, it's better for the peripheral players (G-League, Two-Ways, Fringe, etc.).

As someone who doesn't get why y'all hate Grant Williams I enjoyed the article on Celticsblog today that has takes on Grant from a variety of opposing scouts. (The article actually starts out with a scout wondering why C's fans hate him lol.)

Anyway, the main takeaway is almost all of them feel like Grant is a really good bench player and a great fit with the rest of our guys.

And one thing that really jumped out was two different scouts raved about how Grant shut down Jokic defensively and one of them even said they show Grant's tape to their team to teach guys how to guard Jokic.

If you're interested...

P.S. I didn't mean to say everyone here hates Grant. Just, well, you know who you are! Haha.

Wait, what? So we're gonna go to camp with 21 guys? I don't think that's allowed..

Great move! I have been calling for this all off-season. Kid can shoot. Really makes you think someone from Celtics organization reads this forum.

Wouldn't be surprised if a 2-1 or 3-1 trade is brewing. Maybe Celtics a possible 3rd team in a Simmons trade?

If Brad dumps Jabari I'll trust that he knows more about this stuff than I do, but I thought Jabari was a really nice fit for us. Having a competent veteran on our 2nd or 3rd unit with actual talent and size who can get his own shot and put points on the board is nothing to sneeze at imo.

When you consider defense together with offense, Grant Williams is a better player.

When you consider who can keep you afloat if Brown or Tatum were to go down with injury for a time, Jabari is the better fit.
Thanks Brad for answering my ad,

But after KP, your C play? You broke my heart Fredo.

I don't know if Jabari will be cut or not, but I am looking forward to a competitive training camp as guys fight for a roster spot. In the end we will head into the season with an improved team. I'm particularly pleased that we signed Garrison Matthews. Good shooter and plays hard. Curious to see who makes the cut. Also curious to find out if Brad has any more trade cards up his sleeve. I had expected that our roster would not be finalized until the Celtics had an opportunity to see who might become available after teams make their final cuts. I guess we'll find out soon. :)

I Hate that we're only doing 4 Preseason games.
I liked it at least at 8 games. In fact, I wanted more.

The more prep time, the better.
I think that the Pre/Offseason Roster should be extended, too. Maybe 22-24 Players.

I'm really into the G-League. So I prefer development, more so.
Like, Setting up our G-League team, from the NBA Preseason.

I also think that we need to go to 5 x Two-Way Players. Which was always the Plan.
We have 28 NBA Teams with G-League companions, and a 29th Mexican team, and the 30th Ignite Team.

We're all set for a Full Development League.

Sure, if "afloat" means allowing the other team to score 140 points.

Williams is ok in defense but fouls too much and he is undersized. In the offense he adds nothing. I´d rather keep Jabari, he can get you points in a hurry.

IDk about that. Grant W. can switch off pretty well, on all 5 positions.
That's pretty valuable, and will likely keep him in this league.
