Horford, Porzingis, or Bledsoe/Adams are the three I like right now..

Horford is the safest pick but the lowest upside, and any player his age is at risk of a sudden drop-off, he’s not the player he was three years ago.

Porzingis is the most risk and highest upside, obviously. But Adams is a nice player, if you can fit him into your system.

Also like the possibility of a Smart for Lonzo trade - Ball could be a much better fit.

Those are some brutal trade options. Hopefully they don't have to deal off the 16th pick to move Kemba for anyone mentioned in the article.

Which means the most likely scenario is the Celtics get Kemba’s smiling face back for another year and chalk up another wasted season for the Jaylen and Jayson duo.

If he returns, hopefully the new coach uses him a 6th man role.

Looking at B Robbs list, idk, the trades aren't tooo awful...

Horf for Kemba and 16 or Kennard and Beverly for Kemba and a pick are my two favorites. Also, the Magic one with Harris and another roleplayer isn't bad. Horf is still my favorite, but man, giving up 16 for him? Idk. Not sure I'd do that. Maybe they'd take a a straight swap with Boston adding a protected pick just to improve their odds of tanking?

Otherwise, maybe the Clippers take a chance on Kemba. They don't have much flexibility and could use a pick.

Horford isn't necessarily my first choice but screw it, let's get crazy

Celtics - Bring back some old favs favs/vets to helps the youngins along. Then resign Fournier and keep our 1st for depth. I'd love to bring back Kelly O if we would take the MLE or something.

Smart, Fournier, Brown, Tatum, Al
Pirtchard, Langford, Nesmith, (Parker/Grant or Rookie), Rob
Rondo, Edwards, Tacko (what the hell just give a minimum deal and see what he can do)

Thunder - Save an s load of money by dumping Al

Rockets - Bring back a vet back-up PG (maybe throw them a 2nd or something IDK)

Clips - Get a PG who can play third fiddle to Kwahi and PG without giving up much of anything

It’s because Smart isn’t that good.

Jaylen and Tatum vs Booker and Ayton is comparable. It’s when you throw in Smart and Bridges is where things get off balanced.

It's also positional. Ayton is looking like a future DPOY candidate and a possible 20/10 guy with Booker as a 3 level scorer star. Tatum is a future MVP type player but where does Brown fit in? His best attribute is scoring and that's Tatum's best skill. There's more overlap with the Boston duo even tho they have the higher talent ceiling.

CP helped change how we view the Booker/Ayton duo. Last year we weren’t as high on them as a winning combo. You put CP on Boston, and he’ll balance out Tatum and Jaylen much better as well. I mean, they were the 1&2 on a team that went to the ECF.

I lol at proposals of kemba and pick 16 for horford.

Kemba will play for and improve okc, horford gets paid to sit at home. The idea of adding a pick for that is trash.

Any interest in Collin Sexton, or is he too undersized and a bad fit with the Jays?

Kevin Love is a worse contract than Kemba, so maybe this is where Boston can attach the 16th pick and another asset to Kemba??

Horford got paid to sit home because OKC didn’t want to win games. Horford winnIng an extra 5-6 games was exactly what OKC didn’t want.

Adams is no slug. We desperately need a 7 footer that is active. He's young, strong as hell and can man the paint. Pritch would have a great opportunity with the Pels.

Sure. Id play him at the point with Brown and Tatum along with 2 front court players. Sexton would be a big, strong point that could run with the Js.

100%. 1 36 yo pg changed the culture there and they have home court advantage in rd 2. Amazing!(

Jaylen Brown is going to make about $28M/year over the next 3. Tatum's extension will come in at about $31M/year over the next 4. That's a combined, let's call it $60M.

To me, if we realistically expect to compete, we need to be in the tax and pushing the tax apron (that's the number you get hard capped at with S&T or full MLE). That is about $140-150M over the next few seasons

So around Tatum/Brown, we have about $80-90M to spend. I think the best distribution of it is as follows:

One guy making ~$20-22M
Another guy making ~$18-20M
A rookie extension type guy making ~$13-15M
A MLE type making ~$10M
Maybe one more guy making like ~$6M/year if you get a good value deal
Then the rest filled with rookie deals and vet min guys

To me, the third star model is not sustainable UNLESS that player truly is worth it. Because to fit within that realistic luxury tax number, you're going to need to make sacrifices.

So to me, I think we have to trade Kemba for a few bad but moderate contracts. Guys like Luke Kennard, Marcus Morris, Eric Bledsoe, Pat Beverly, Steven Adams, etc. have all been mentioned in here. Those players have the type of contracts that could help facilitate deals.

Imagine how good Celts would be with CP and Ayton. :o

CP Brown Tatum Upgrade Ayton. That's the balance we need. Just add a bigger frontcourt player that can defend and shoot to relieve Tatum of banging with PFs

Terrible trade for celtics.

Adams and Thompson are basically a wash, Adams might be slightly better.

Even with his bad knees, Kemba is MUCH better than Bledsoe, like not even close.

Then we also have to give up Pritchard and Williams?

Hell no.

I'm not that desperate to get rid of Kemba..

I guess the only good thing about this is we clear up about $16 mil in salary, which we can use to sign a good player..

Kemba, lotto protected 1st round pick from OKC, future pick swap with Boston in 2023, to Dallas
Horford to Boston
Porzingis to OKC

Why for Dallas:
Dallas saves 36 mil by not having the third year at the end of Zingers contract, receives a lotto protected 1st from OKC (1st one out of their 12 future traded or swapped 1st's not in lotto) gets the pick swap option in 2023 with Boston for taking a chance on Kemba's knee who will not be a locker room distraction as Zinger was becoming.

Why for Boston:
Boston saves 10 mill a year in each of Horfords 2 year contract, and gets a player more suited to fit with Tatum and Brown with giving up minimal future assets.

Why for OKC:
OKC gets the best player with the most upside in the trade in Porzingis, hence the added 1st. Also, in being only 25, he has a chance to be built around.

That's actually not that bad. I kind of like it. It's just that the PG spot is (still) crowded with rondo/smart/pritchard all battling for mins and at SG/SF it's crowded with Fournier/Brown/Nesmith/Langford/Bradley and sometimes smart plays the 2..maybe we somehow land a guy like Marcus Morris instead of Bradley?

Return to Boston Celtics
