Does this mean wyc grew a pair of balls and told him he's over the hill?

It......kind of sounds like it. I’m going to do some investigating, but this is something LBF would have a better read on.

I love Danny as a person so would hate to see him leave the celts so hopefully if this happens he stays on in some capacity but it’s hard to ignore the numerous bad decisions over the past 2-3 years.

Wowowow

I expect whoever comes in will trade everyone but Tatum.

Fans of Beal/Tatum duo might get their wish. This is going to be a crazy offseason.

I think he's become a bit overrated. He basically lucked out being able to swap an overpaid DeRozan for Kawhi because Pop's over the hill. He's still top 3 though, so I couldn't be mad at it. Presti is another guy I'd look into.

I dunno about that one. If Danny was half as good as Masai in the late 1st round/2nd round, our team would be a whole lot better.

I wasn’t convinced that Masai would want to come to Boston, but I just checked out his wiki page. He went to college in North Dakota and Montana, which are infinitely way more racist than Boston. I’m sure he’d listen to a pitch from Wyc.

With that being said, I still think it’s Zarren’s job to lose. There is also a possibility that Zarren is content being 2nd in command because there is no pressure whatsoever.

Will be an interesting summer. Draft is only a few months away, so we need to make moves quickly.

Guessing Stevens gets a make or break year with Zarren at the helm, gonna rely on a ton of internal growth from the young guys barring Kemba or Smart getting moved

Breaking News

That's wild.

Speculation it's because of his comments regarding race issues in boston.

Also possible players were not happy with his constant public criticism of them.

Yeah he has had a bad last several years. I don't know if it's just bad luck or the game has passed him by, but it may be he no longer has the drive and/or energy. Danny isn't blind, he probably sees this too.

I'm not a huge fan of Zarren taking over. This remind me of Cherington taking over for Epstein. Numbers guys don't often make the best kingpins.

If Ainge does leave and seek work elsewhere, that kind of means he’s kind of been fired, right?? Because it sure sounds like it

Sam Presti is not leaving those draft picks behind lol.

If that's the case I'm fine with it.

Also means Steven's job may not be safe either at this point.

I love them both, but I feel bad for any Marcus Smart or Jaylen Brown sickafans. They might be gone now.

No GM is going to come in and trade Tatum. That would be insanity.

Wow, this is so unexpected. Did Wyc tell him they need a new guy helming this team? If so, wow.

I don't blame the owners though, Ainge has been very lackluster the past three seasons. It has to be said that most of the misfortunes that ruined his grand plans were out of his control; injuries, Kyrie being a toxic bitch, Horford and Hayward getting offered way too much money by other teams...

That said, I'm excited for this news. Thanks for everything Danny, you did all you could. You really should've won more than one title given all the great moves you made, but it's time for a change.

That's how I'm reading it as well.

**** him tho for screwing up our cap and screwing up the last 4 years then walking away.

Is Danny Ainge the most overrated GM in history?

KG trade and Brooklyn trade and what else?

1 championship in 2 decades.

I'm anxious but a bit excited if he does "step down"

Honestly, Mike zarren is a brilliant mind and in years past I’d be happy to pass the torch. But right now we need an enema. We need a new fresh eyes and mind on the organization. I know it won’t happen tho. But you need a new set of faces here
