This year's pick, probably 1 more.

If Beal wants to be here, I would consider it. Wonder how Brad feels about it. it would definitely make Tatum happy.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Beal would need to suffer some career ending injury that no one diagnosis, and he will be on the Celtics in no time.

On July 1, for Bradley Beal and no other bodies from Washington:

Kemba Walker (if he doesn't exercise Trade Kicker)
Romeo Langford or Aaron Nesmith (125% of Beal's salary + $100,000 only fits one)
Two 1rst Round Picks

Celtics:

PG: Marcus Smart / Payton Pritchard / Tremont Waters (Two -Way, not a regular roster spot)
SG: Bradley Beal / Evan Fournier / whoever's left between Langford & Nesmith / Carsen Edwards (just waive him already)
SF: Jaylen Brown / Evan Fournier ? / whoever's left between Langford & Nesmith
PF: Jayson Tatum / Jabari Parker / Grant Williams
C: Robert Williams III / Tristan Thompson / Luke Kornet

That's 13 players under contract plus Waters still on a 2-way. Not sure what to do about Tacko Fall. Maybe worth a roster spot.

Room for a draft pick and Free Agent plus one more Two-Way contract. Probably could keep a spot open for a mid-season buyout. Desperately need a PF that can score, rebound, SET SCREENS, SEAL OFF and DEFEND in the same player. Jabari Parker's achilles heals are his defense and lack of a reliable 3 point shot.

You may laugh now, but this trade becomes very plausible if Washington decides to move on from Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal notifies Washington of his intention not to re-sign in 2022. Suddenly it's very plausible. And I can see both Beal moving on from Washington and Washington moving on from Westbrook as real possibilities, which then makes this trade a distinct possibility.

He is FA next summer and we can have max cap space if:
- we trade Kemba for 2022 expiring contracts
- let Smart walk in summer 2022
- off course not sign Fournier this summer.

We are in strong position come trade deadline next February because we can offer WAS Smart, whoever Kemba is traded for, some picks....and if Beal would insist on going to Boston, than WAS has no choice but to take whatever package or get nothing if he signs with us in 2022.

Prichard
Beal
Brown
Tatum
R.Williams

Is very realistic...we are only one Kemba trade for expiring contracts away.

I don't think you're missing anything. It doesn't make sense. I would much rather trade for Lonzo. Or trade Kemba for Steven Adams since they both have ridiculous salaries. They can have Ojeleye, Edwards, and Grant Williams, too. They might need a new point guard if Lonzo departs for greener pastures other than Boston.

This would be awesome:

Lonzo (sign and trade for $20M) + Steven Adams ($30 M) == Kemba ($37.6M !!!!) + TT ($9.3 M) + CE (1.5) + SO (1.8) + pick

That'd significantly improve the team.
Ball bring terrific pace, vision and size at the point, and Adams, at what 27, is a reliable 7 footer and one of the physically strongest players in the league.
I want ball here, but that doesn't improve team. Who replaces kembas scoring?

Two things

First, my trade is not crazy from a talent standpoint. TT and Kemba are both good players. Adams is somewhat of a stiff, but he's the kind of stiff we need. Ball is a free agent, and NO is probably losing him anyway. NO would still have Zion and Ingraham to pair with a (hopefully) healthy Kemba, plus a good PF backup to Zion (TT).

Second, my Celtics team would have plenty of scoring:

Tatum - 25 PPG
Brown - 25 PPG
Ball running the point - 15 PPG
Jabari Parker at Power forward - 15 PPG
Adams a much needed defensive presence in middle - 10 PPG

The biggest problem is figuring out who starts and who comes off the bench, because the team also has:

R. Williams - platoon as starting center? - 15 PPG
Smart - 15 PPG
Fournier - 20 PPG - Can he be resigned or does he depart?

Plus this high quality young bench:

Pritchard - a very good true point guard.
Nesmith - surprised and impressed near the end of the year! Appears to be a good pick, after all.
Romeo - surprisingly effective against the Nets! Also appears to be a good pick, after all.
Kornet - Quality backup center who knows how to play the game.

Gone in the NO trade: Kemba, TT, Edwards, Semi, maybe the 1st round pick. Also say sayanora to G. Williams, Waters, Tacko.

To replace warm bodies, maybe try and bring back Marcus Morris or IT.

Brad can figure out the rest and watch the championships roll in.

I know Kemba's gets paid too much, but he's still a very good player who scored 19 ppg this year and was a deserving all star the year before. He's Kemba Walker! You don't trade him for expiring contracts.

And why would you ever let Smart walk? At least trade him and get some value in return. (I would keep him)

As for Fournier, I would like to keep him around, too. You only let him go due to money. He shot 41% from 3 this year, and 43% in the post season.

Plus don't forget Parker. He is really not a bench player.

Well you simply don’t have the cap space to sign Beal if you keep Smart and Fournier that’s the issue. Even if they get rid of all three, they have a max cap slot but then have to fill the bench with minimum contracts

what will it take?

-Star player
-Young talent
-Multiple draft picks

Kemba
Nesmith or Langford (they can take their pick)
Time Lord
2021 1st round pick, 2023 1st round pick, 2025 1st round pick

Then we draft Neemias Queta with our 2nd round pick. Check out his footage if you haven't seen it on youtube. He's projected currently as a 2nd round pick and if we can get him with 45th pick it'd be steal of draft.

C Thompson (by end of season Queta is starting)
F Tatum
F Brown
G Beal
G Smart

Bench: Fournier (6th man of year), Nesmith/Langford (whoever's left), Queta (by end of season Thompson off bench when Queta is starting), Pritchard, Madar..

Kemba a star?

4 time all star. Including all-star appearance in 2020. played at all-star level (when healthy) post-all-star break this season. averaged 26 PPG over his last 10 games during regular season. Led the league in taking charges. Some might consider him a star.

No a superstar, but it's not a stretch to still consider him a star player in this league. A full offseason of rest and treatment for his knee should do him wonders after the shortest offseason in history last year..

There is no treatment that will ever give him back that little bit of explosiveness that is needed.

It’s absolute a stretch to consider him a star at this point.

If Washington trade Beal is because they go to rebuild. Jaylen is no more a young promise player, he is an all star. After one year in Washington Jaylen is going to ask for a trade.
Houston didnt get any player for Harden, only alot of picks. OKC got alot of picks for PG and SGA but SGA was a young promising player not an All Star.
Franchise going to rebuild need picks not an all star at 25.
I dont understand the narrative that to get an all star the celtics have to give up Jaylen. They dont.
And if a trade cost us Jaylen is a bad trade. Because Beal, Tatum and Kemba is not a contender trio.

Trading for Bradley Beal is unlikely to ever happen nor is it a move that would benefit the team. If we get Beal then our roster becomes tremendously unbalanced; we will be stuck with too many shooters/scorers without any real facilitators. Basically, we will be in the same "situation" that we are in now with Kemba Walker whereby his output is reduced simply because there isn't enough shots for him to justify his enormous salary and this means people will start whinging.

Kemba, Smart, Timelord plus langford or Nesmeith
For Beal, Gafford and Bertans.

Pritchard, Beal, Brown, Tatum, Gafford
Finishing lineup
Beal, Brown, Tatum, Bertans and Gafford
That’s one big lineup with tons of shooting, and defense would be fine.

You do know that for trades to work, the other team has to want the guy you're trading right?? As in Washington would have to WANT Kemba...........for Beal, I mean.
