Meanwhile, Zo and Bertrand talk about how the C's understand the need to hire a black coach given that they replaced Danny with Brad without bothering to interview any black candidates and Danny's comments about never having heard of any racial comments at their games.

https://985thesportshub.com/episodes/game-6-goalie-decision-nba-league-officials-upset-with-stevens-promotion-cassidy-fined-by-nhl-hour-2-6-8-2021/

The report they quote also says the C's are going with a "respected retread", rather than considering even long-time assistants looking for a first-time elevation. That is also what Danny pretty much said in his last interview on 98.5.

Hire the best available candidate, neither race or gender should matter. Enough of the BS man. People are dwelling on too much, get out and live you only have 1 life.

Are we sure that Larranaga isn't Jerry Van Dyke...?

That's what posters here said about Mazz when Mazz had the Danny may retire story a month before it was announced...

Mazz has broken basketball stories before. Felger couldnt care less the sport exists.

If they Hire Larranaga, I’ll go ahead and re-start the fire Brad bandwagon.

Brad can't hire somebody from his current staff. The optics on that are awful.
I apologize for the things I have said in the past.

Plus, the current staff sucked. Our offensive system has been abysmal for years now. Keeping the same voices in power isnt changing anything.

I’m starting to come around on Sam Cassell as our HC option. Would love it if we could somehow get Darvin Ham to be our offensive coordinator after Milwaukee cleans house. Close it up with Lloyd Pierce as the defensive coordinator and we’ll be in great shape IMO

1) I could see Ham being an assistant on Cassell's staff, since they were teammates on the Bucks.
2) Wouldn't Ham be the defensive coach and not the offensive one? As a player, Ham was a defensive specialist (also known for hustling and grabbing boards off the bench) with no offensive game..
3) Another former teammate of Cassell's I could see being an assistant on his staff is James Posey:

Ima thinking that some hc candidates for the Cs may be wary of reporting to Brad Stevens who didn't play in the NBA, doesn't have GM experience, and was the previous coach for 8 seasons.

Beal happens to love Cassell, and says Sam molded him into the player he is.

Tatum, Jaylen, and Sam would be pretty enticing, I think. If the Celtics are able to maneuver the cap some, which they can.

You get to coach an elite franchise with one young superstar and another young allstar. Nobody is worried about having to work under Brad in this situation.

You may be right but it's something to consider. We really don't know how Stevens will run his office so there is a legitimate unknown to consider. But it is a job, and I'd assume a coveted one, so you may be right too.

They were #3 offense in the league just a year ago lol. And if Larranga or Allen are hired as head coach, it’ll come with Tatum approving that decision and vouching for them to be hired.

And why exactly would we want someone running the Bucks anemic playoff offense?

I have a feeling the coach will be someone we haven’t heard before. The Celtics usually keep things under wraps when it comes to coaching changes.

After an exhaustive search Boston hires Brad Stevens as HC with a stellar interview in the mirror impressing the Head of Basketball Operations.
