I have no idea, I'm still in shock, but I would like to get peoples thoughts on who the top contenders to coach the Celtics are...

Fire away.

I would like to see a former player, and a former player that the current roster has actually seen play and respects. Id love to see Chauncey Billups or Sam Cassell.

Id love for it to be Billups or Cassell. But who do I really think its going to be? If Wyc is choosing then its probably Cassell. If Brad is choosing? Jerome Allen, Jay Larranaga or maybe Kara Lawson and Evan Turner have an outside shot. Pretty much someone who will keep the same friggin coaching staff in place.

I think they will spend as little as possible on this coaching staff like they have last couple years as their assistant coaches have to be on the lower pay scale in the NBA.

None of them have been mentioned yet, but I'd be cool with any of the following -- Jackie Moon, Ken Carter, or Norman Dale.

Griffin started his playing career here, let's kick off his head coaching career, too. Has a championship run experience as an assistant. I'd go with him over Billups or Cassell.

Going to be surprised if it isn't Jerome Allen. He is a former player, former NCAA HC, and has been Brad's assistant for 6 years and reportedly turned down an interview if not job to stay in Boston for this opportunity. It isn't exciting but it gives continuity as your restructure the FO.

That said there is some talk that guys who are currently coaching in the Playoffs are interested in talking to Boston not sure if these are former HC's that are currently assistants or if they are HC's expecting to be let go or pending FA's.

With how bad our offense has looked, I would prefer it not to be anyone on the current staff that was a part of all that. The league is all offense now and we need someone who can keep up. If he couldn't help with getting Tatum to defeat double team's, than how would he be as HC?

We need more out-of-the-box thinking in this thread. How about Bill Laimbeer? He's been a very successful coach in the WNBA. Or Tim Duncan, currently an assistant with Pop?

I detailed it in the other thread but I think Lloyd Pierce will end up being the guy. Makes a lot of sense on a lot of levels.

Can we get Coach K as an adviser of some sort? He's old as dirt but would contribute greatly to convincing Tatum to stay long-term.

Is there any coach on another team you guys could see getting fired? For example, if the Bucks lose to the Nets maybe Budenholzer stands a good chance (though I know most of us would hate the move!)

I still think that is a personnel issue more than a system issue. This team's best line up Tatum/Brown/Smart/Walker/RWilliams played 110 mins together this season the starting line up of Tatum/Brown/Theis/Walker/Thompson played 130. The year before Boston had 4 different 5 man units that played more than that together. I felt like they had started to figure it out just when they lost Brown. While I welcome upgrades I actually would like to see this core get to play together healthy and see what it can do.

While the overall results were a disappointment I think the development of Tatum and Brown was pretty fantastic and Allen is credited with a lot of that. They are both really efficient well rounded players.

What concerns me is what happened in ATL at the start of this season. ATL brought in all of these new pieces and a new coach and Pierce is supposed to be a guy who knows what he is doing and it was a **** show. Bad offense and Bad defense and this is with veteran guys.

While Hayward was a big part of who Boston was two years ago that was damn good offensive and defensive team. I think the focus should be to get back to that ball club not try and change up completely what has worked to get Tatum and Brown to the level they are at.

I'm interested in Kenny Atkinson.

He has a great track record developing young players like Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, and Jarrett Allen, and I think he would hold Tatum and Brown accountable for their shot selection. Plus, his Brooklyn teams always overachieved when he coached them.

We need somebody who can instill offensive discipline in Tatum, Brown, and Smart.

Scott Brooks
Nate McMillian (could be a FA)
Erik Spoelstra
Ty Lue
Terry Stotts

Wait until we waste 3 seasons on a former player just because y'all think lethargic Tatum will respond well.

Whoever it is needs to be qualified. That's all I care about. I'm not out here with a **** check list that goes beyond that.
