Kemba Walker Appreciation Thread – (Retires, July 2, 2024)
Say what you want about him, but he signed here in a time where we were in a bad spot and had a great year. Thank you Kemba!

He gave the team everything he had, which was limited by injuries. Thanks, Kemba. Great guy. All the best in OKC (or wherever you may end up).

I’ll forever stand by my “He would have been better than Kyrie” if it weren’t for injuries take. Also I believe the bubble was so bad for him. Just playing in front of no crowds no energy on a bad knee.
Get well Kemba and get back to form!!! Some of us will miss you.

Played well for one season and then shtf.
Good luck, Kemba. Hopefully the Knicks trade for you and you get to finish out your career making the playoffs in your home town.

Re: Kemba Walker Appreciation Thread
He was instrumental in helping Brown and Tatum develop from complimentary starters into all stars and burgeoning superstars. He believed in them as well as Smart and saved our franchise from despair making 2019/20 season a surprisingly good one. He is a guy who is easy to root for and I really hope he has a great comeback season next year.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I loved watching Kemba when he was on. That pick and roll with Theis especially. His great fundamentals were very fun to watch for anyone who loves the game. Thanks Kemba, I hope you end up on a contender somewhere.

Dude's a flat out baller and a great human being. Sad for the injuries, hopefully Oklahoma can refurbish him like they did CP3 and Al

Don't let them door hit you on your way out, Kemba.
Liked the hyena as a person, but I really doubt his competitiveness, tbh. I know he played hurt, but I feel like a lot of it was excuses as well, he was missing WIDE OPEN shot after WIDE OPEN shot, then goes to the basket either blocked or straight up TO.
Hope Smart is next.
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

There's always one.
Yeah, the knock on Kemba is definitely that he's not a competitive guy. Great take.

Re: Kemba Walker Appreciation Thread
No matter how it ended Kemba’s first season here was VITAL. He was just the believer Tatum & Brown needed after whateverthehell the 2018-19 season was.
Was always a personal favorite from the UConn journey & really wish it could have ended in greater terms.
Loved his professionalism & can only wish him the best.
(also, by far the best dressed player in the NBA. His trenchcoat game is undefeated. Will miss the walk-in fashion tips)

Re: Kemba Walker Appreciation Thread
I'll never crap on players who choose to play for this franchise. Without Kemba, the stink of the toxic Kyrie season would've lingered. His great personality infected the whole team which led to such a fun season last year. He played his heart out for us, unfortunately his injury and limitations prevented him from reaching greater heights here. But I'm glad he got very deep in the playoffs while he was with us, even if it was just for 1 year.
So long, Kemba! Thanks for everything.

Perfectly stated. This is where I'm at too, thanks Kemba and good luck in OKC and beyond!

Re: Kemba Walker Appreciation Thread
I have met, talked to and coached Kemba for all of 2 hours in my life. Dude is genuinly the nicest person period. His Smile kind of proves that. Feel bad from a BB view that it didn't work out. But I also never ever thought Kemba in HS, was going on to make 300 million to play BB.
It's just part of the NBA circle of life. Happy for Kemba overall.

Loved the guy as a person, was really great for us at a time when this team was pretty fractured from the kyrie debacle he came in and said/did all the right things. just tough luck with injuries, and it wasn't his fault he was offered that contract. didn't work out here but he's a quality dude. Good luck Kemba.

Re: Kemba Walker Appreciation Thread
Great guy, thanks for the title at Uconn but was severely overpaid and underachieved which I am not thankful for at all. Proved that he's an elite level scorer for a bottom of the barrel franchise and didn't take the steps into a winner that I thought he would. He definitely disappointed in Boston big time and was a worse option than Scary Terry.

Shame it didn’t work out. Great dude and a UConn legend in this area, wish him well in OKC!
