The titles part is kind of a fantasy too in the off-chance Tatum remains after his current contract. Bird played with a couple of All-timers.

We can revisit this in four or five years but right now, I don't see it.

I’d be shocked if Tatum hits that top 10 ever level, which is nothing to be ashamed of of course.

Also, I don’t think you need to be pessimistic about him staying here for his next contract lol. I’d be extremely surprised if it wasn’t the case.

Top 10 "Ever" ? He may not get there. But, he's definitely on the outskirts, as we speak.
I can see Tatum being here for the next 2 Contracts.

Tatum, Brown & Smart, may all make it here for 12 years, a-piece.
There's no real need to change from that.

I mean top 10 nba player ever, extremely unlikely, to say the least. I’d think he will definitely be one of the 5ish best Celtics players ever, as long as he stays.

Rationally you want everyone to stay, but not sure how realistic that is in todays nba. Though I think you are starting to see more guys stay for the second big contracts.

The Warriors kept their 3 core guys together to date. The Celts may or may not be able to do that but it could be fun trying. Smart Brown Tatum Williams. Who woulda thunk it?

Things are looking real good right now for the C's. A relatively young core of Smart, Tatum and Brown. Build around that. I'd include Timelord but I fear he might just not be durable. If so I'd include him and ride those four for as long as possible with parts built around them. Prichard is a keeper. I see flashes from Nesmith. All in all I see real good indications from this squad now and going forward.

And oh yeah, for all those Danny haters. All of those are his children. I won't be shy in reminding.

Well needless to say the Celts losing the opening game is troubling. What's more troubling is how they lost it. Out everthing'd. But teams have come back and we'll get a chance to see how they respond. They cannot go down 0-2. It'd be over then.

Gonna tell my kids this is the best starting lineup in the NBA in 2022 -- (from left) Timelord, Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, Smart, and Jaylen Brown.

Best Celtics team ever : 1985-86.

And this team when it gets into the magic zone. This team in the magic zone would beat that team. Short of that you gotta go with the old squad that's considered by some to be one the greatest teams ever period, not just Celtics great. NBA great.

They were Great, No Doubt. But, they ran themselves into the ground, back in those days.
Larry Bird for one, had to retire early, due to his back. -- That wouldn't happen in today's NBA.

Also the NBA is more Global now; Bigger Players; and the Rosters are way bigger.
12/13 player per roster back then, to now 17 (counting 2 x Two-Ways). It's a Different NBA.

Stauskas has been in the league for 10 years. He really hasn't done that well for himself, relatively speaking.

meh, not being good at your job and becoming a multi-millionaire? Ok.

edit: I see, you said relatively speaking hehe. Even bad NBA players get money, you're right. My post and comment after doesn't need to respect the relative qualifier because I'm talking about becoming a millionaire for doing nothing much to earn it.

The rebounding mix seems very different from what it is in the regular season, although I haven't looked up the numbers to confirm. Al's rebounds seem way up, while Tatum's seem way down.

Is this an artifact of defensive schemes?

IMO it is just a product of his assignments on defense. Tatum was guarding KD and other perimeter players quite a bit in the Nets series and in this series, he isn't guarding Giannis that much since he isn't that good at it and probably to stay out of foul trouble but Horford/Williams are often guarding Giannis. Well Giannis is taking so many shots near the basket, the people defending him are in better position to grab rebounds if he misses or even passes to a perimeter player.

I don't mind if Celtics fans criticize Tatum on defense for not doing a better job on one play defending Giannis when he was on him and Giannis scored in the post awfully quickly vs him but to bash him for lack of rebounding in playoffs is very unfair.

Those fans deserve to have a no defense stat padder replace Tatum.

If you are guarding perimeter players and not cheating much off of them, most players rebounding numbers are going to be much lower. The main reason why Westbrook had all of those triple doubles and someone like Michael Jordan got very few of them in comparison wasn't since Westbrook was a better rebounder than Jordan. He wasn't as good of a rebounder but Jordan was actually playing perimeter defense letting Grant/Rodman take care of most of the rebounding while Westbrook spending most of his time near the basket.

2 min report proved Al’s tip-in should count!

Post#1680 » by NJC » Mon May 9, 2022 2:21 pm

They said Jrue’s hand fouled Smart before he shoots. But, if you check the replay, Jrue bumped Smart at 5.2 mark and Smart fell at 4.6 mark. That is 0.6 sec diff! Al’s tip-in should count and overtime
I have a screenshot at 5.2s but still a newbie here not knowing how to attach the picture. But you can easily see it in every replay
