Victory Cigar!!! BOS 98, CLE 92 (7-7)

Post#1 » by GoCeltics123 » Tue Nov 16, 2021 2:27 am

Well...

I'm impressed with the mental fortitude to hold on. Gross game but...wins a win.

Didn't love the end of game strategy to spam Schroder and Al but it worked. Tatum played better in this one, he needs to be more aggressive but he was better.

I will give some credit to the Cavs in that Rubio was legitimately destroying us but the shots he was making were legit. Osman was guarded terribly but he made some very tough ones too.

VC to Denzel Valentine for stepping out on that three (just kidding...I think).

Down Jaylen Brown, and with limited minutes from Rob Williams, the Celtics managed to pull one out, thanks to Al Horford mostly, but with decent contributions from Tatum, Grant Williams, Smart, Richardson and Langford.

An alternative view:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed FGs - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+23 Al Horford (32 minutes)

+19.5 Jayson Tatum (36 minutes)

+12.5 Grant Williams (24 minutes)
+12 Marcus Smart (37 minutes)
+11 Josh Richardson (25 minutes)

+7.5 Dennis Schroder (34 minutes)
+6 Romeo Langford (15 minutes)
+4 Aaron Nesmith (11 minutes)
+3.5 Enes Kanter (8 minutes)
+2.5 Rob Williams III (13 minutes)

-1 Payton Pritchard (5 minutes)

Al is holding this fragile ship together

Major props to Dennis for coming in clutch and have a few strong showings recently. Hopefully we can find a way to keep him.

No one really stood out so I'm going with Al since Mobley was not impactful.

Good road win against a tough team that got hot in the 4th. Rubio hit some ridiculous shots and we kept coming. Our defense is for real and the shots will eventually fall.

Stop with all the damn negativity. You all listen to too much sports talk radio or something.

Agree.

Big Al did everything on both ends.

Not a great game by Al, but good enough for the VC.

Needed this win. Horford had the best all-around game, but giving the VC to Schroder. He stepped up big when it was most needed.

Any time we can beat a team lead by Ricky Rubio, Donnie Osmon and Denzel Valentine all while having some Tacko, just gives me those warm and fuzzy tingles..

Could easily go Al, Schroder, or Tatum. Al and Schroder with the better finish, so either of them.

Marcus Smart got away with one.

That hero ball play, with the step back jumper with over 2 minutes remaining, could've cost the Celts another game.

Al or Tatum.

Much easier to swallow poor shooting from Tatum when he passes and defends like he did tonight. One of these games, he’s going to get cooking and it’s not going to stop.

Good win, super short handed and on the road. I know the Cavs were down guys too, but whatever. Team has won 5 of their last 7, and the defense has been elite. Once Tatum starts shooting like we know he will, and we get Jaylen back…team should be pretty dang good.

Hope Rob is okay.

This is a tough one. Tatum's stat line looks good, but outside of the 3rd quarter I thought Tatum largely played pretty mediocre on offense, and he disappeared in the 4th (to be fair they were using him in the Brown role, corner spacer). He did have a couple really nice blocks and nice defense overall in the 4th quarter.

Smart and Schroder actually came up huge in the 4h. Both guys realized the cavs had no shot blockers and so attacked the paint and got buckets. But their overall stat lines dont scream VC.

I probably gotta give it to Horford. Best overall game I thought. Shut down Mobley so hard they had to bench him. And Although Rubio got some points when switch on him it was mostly just Rubio mking some absurd shots.

I think Horford is going to run away with this one, voting for him myself.

Wanted to give a shoutout to Grant Williams. Still not at 'unsung hero' level, but he's been quietly playing solid basketball and rarely does anyone say anything about it.

Al should get it. shut down Mobley and the Cavs responded by benching him in the 4th..

Al dominated Mobley who owned us in the second half last game. Made him a non factor. Add in his clutch baskets and being in control all game makes it an easy choice.

Had we lost this game in the end, I probably would have taken some time off watching the Celtics cause I would’ve been hella pissed seeing Rubio and osman mount a furious comeback with Steph and klay like shooting. Talk about demoralizing.

Horford. Dude put the clamps on Mobley who gave us all sorts of hell last game. Had a few big buckets in the end too.

We need to be better man.. This team is a waste of talent. I still think Ime sucks as a coach.

Horford was pretty Good.
Schröder helped us near the End.
Tatum, needs a Vacation, to find himself.
Kanter, is off the Island?
