Supposedly Budenholzer said that Grant turned the Bucks game around, at both ends of the court.

That said, it's a little hard to find a link that clearly substantiates the defensive-end part of that. Does anybody have a good one?

Only 50-40-89 player in the league. (3 straight FT makes get him to 90)
Only player shooting 80%+ from restricted area and 50%+ on corner threes.

Grant is one of the few bright spots of this season. Very happy for him. As a next step, I'd love to see him work enough on his handle so he can take some easy straightline drives when teams inevitably start closing out harder on him.

It's especially satisfying when good guys do well, and, from all reports and appearances, Grant is a very good guy and teammate.

He could have easily been discouraged by a really tough personal and team year. Bounced back in a big way.

And to think, they could have ended up with Darius Bazley instead.

We need to let grant take technical foul shots so he can hit the 50/40/90 club officially. That would be funny to see him on that list.

Yeah, He's close. 51-45-89.
If we let him shoot the Techs, he should cruise right over that 90 mark.

JINXED MY DUDE!!

Went 1/5 vs. Orlando. Still at 50/40/89 (one made FT away from 50/40/90).

Yep. He's going to be in the 50-40-90 club.
He was actually shooting about 50-45-89. -- Becoming a Really Useful player.

Like many on here have said, not a great athlete, but a heady, well-liked player who does all the little things well. He's a Celtic, I like the guy, and hope he will be a Celtic for life. Don't think he has a ton of trade value, probably never will, because I envision him being more valuable to us than others.

I hope he becomes our Udonis Haslem: ultimate glue guy that everybody loves.

Grant "The Glue" Williams. I like the sound of that!!

He’s always been this type of player, now he can just really shoot.

The understated impact of Grant Williams
By AdamTaylorNBA | Jan 25, 2022

https://www.celticsblog.com/2022/1/25/22899028/the-understated-impact-of-grant-williams-jayson-tatum-jaylen-brown-marcus-smart-ime-udoka
In the 54 possessions, Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Grant Williams, and Robert Williams have shared the court together this season; the Celtics are a +30.2 and boast a 72.4% effective field-goal rating. That unit is also one of the Celtics' more reliable defensive rebounding lineups, securing 66% of opponents' missed shots, which bodes well for Ime Udoka's desire for a fast-paced offense....

There are not many young bigs in the league who would be willing, or able, to step onto the perimeter and guard Bradley Beal. Even less of those bigs would be able to stay with the All-Star scoring magician once he decides to drive the lane, yet Williams readily steps up to the challenge and ends the possession with a rear-view block.

It's never ideal to have a four or five guarding a shifty guard or wing on the perimeter, but mismatches such as those are inevitable in a switch-everything system. Of course, the hope is the wing/guard receives a ball-screen, and the subsequent switch takes your big man away from the point of attack and resets the defense (assuming a guard is switched onto the screening big). Still, elite scorers like to isolate when they get a favorable matchup. Meaning you need the player personnel to execute such a system correctly, and Williams is proving to be a vital piece of the jigsaw for Udoka.

Horford seems to be getting worn out. The smart thing to do, is to Start Grant. Grant's made a good case to Start, too.
If Celtics really want to go anywhere, they'll put Smart back as the 6th-Man, as well. Schröder likely being gone.

Payton Pritchard is just a much better Shooter, and a Natural PG. Whereas Smart is a Combo-Guard.

Starters: Pritchard - Brown - Tatum - Grant - R. Williams
Rotation: Smart - Richardson - Langford/Nesmith - Horford

Agree that Payton has shown he's a better shooter, but I haven't seen enough of him in the playmaker role to place him ahead of Marcus in that respect just yet. Smart's playmaking/passing skills are much underrated. His assist to turnover ratio is hurt by some careless, overly casual passes at times, but he has good point guard skills and instincts IMO. At any rate, once Schroeder is gone (please, please), Pritch will get more consistent meaningful minutes at the point and we'll get a better sense of what he can do to make his teammates better.
