Post#2 » by Celts17Pride » Thu Feb 3, 2022 2:23 pm

From the last thread:

My one week away prediction (which will change every day) is that the Celtics "will" go into the tax and it will be for some opportunistic trade that will cost very little.

Something like Malik Beasley absorbed into the Evan Fournier TPE for Langford, Schroder and a 2nd round pick. Minny up against the tax.

Who knows? Fun time of the year. Celtics playing well and trade deadline one week away. Will be interesting to see what Brad Stevens does over the next week.

Again the most likely scenario is moving Schroder and getting below the tax.

Got to get my posts in for the next Wall of Shame

This team really, really needs shooting. It's painfully obvious and I think that's why you're seeing the Malik Beasley and Kevin Huerter's of the world mentioned.

credible rumors as of 2/3:

Schroder to CHI for Troy Brown Jr./2nd
Schroder to CLE for ____ (into their DPE, maybe a pick or Dean Wade coming back)
Schroder to PHO for Jalen Smith

JRich to UTA (for Ingles/1st or Clarkson/2nd)
JRich + Langford to MIN for Malik Beasley

interest in Justin Holiday
interest in Theis

discussed Smart for Huerter/Reddish

Perhaps its a bigger deal.

HE points out about our offense, Beal would fix a lot of that.

I like the Beasley deal.. Barnes would still be a good fit, but it would take Horford+Nesmith and maybe a 1st..

Idk if there’s a way to move Schroder/Josh, get under the tax, and bring in a scoring upgrade - or two. Kelly Olynyk is out there.

Josh/Romeo for Beasley, Al/Aaron for Barnes, Schroder for Wade/CLE 1st =

Smart/PP
Jaylen/Beasley
Tatum(/Jaylen/Barnes)
Barnes/Grant
Rob/Wade/Enes

If they wanted to pay the tax, do Schroder for Burke/Ntilikina (or Troy Brown if you think he can be a backup 1-3), use the TPE, Bruno, top 20 protected 1st for Olynyk (or TPE + Bruno for Theis), maybe get Justin Holiday for a second:

Smart/Frank-or-Troy/PP(/Dozier)
Jaylen/Beasley
Tatum/Holiday
Barnes/Grant(/Bruno)
Rob/Olynyk-or-Theis(/Bol)

I am not trading Richardson for Beasley...Josh has been fantastic this year. Shooting over 40 % from three is crazy for him! On top of that his defense and playmaking ability at the 2 guard spot are great...

Never expected that at the beginning of the season but with his improved shooting he is the perfect role player for this team!

Schröder is the first guy to go. I also wouldn`t mind trading Al if we could find a taker for him and some more shooting in return...

You also have pieces in Barnes, Holiday and Beasley who are on good short-term contracts, you might be able to use them for upgrades down the line - think Collins, Siakam..

And that group is only four million over the tax with Theis, only 8 million over with Olynyk. I think if they sent out enough of Bruno/Burke/Dozier/Bol/Enes in the bargain they could actually squeak under the tax line..

The Mavs have made it clear that they are not interested in Schroder.

My math might be off there - some reports suggest we're only like 700k over the tax, that Schroder for Troy Jr. by itself would get us under or almost under. So you might be able to get Theis and stay under the line.

Marc Stein said it

Probably would be the Cavs who take him, I'd imagine

Since Stevens is likely saving his 1st round picks for a Beal sign-n-trade and ownership wants to duck the luxury tax, can't see any big deals happening.

It's very doubtful they get add anyone better than Richardson, so he probably stay put. I can see Stevens acquiring someone like Justin Holiday or Monte Morris.

Repeat, I would NOT trade Richardson for Beasley.

If team wants to go into the tax
TPE for BEasley

If team wants to roll the dice a bit:
Horford and Schroder for Beverly and Beasley

Hmm.

To me that reads like he's saying the recent play is not impacting any decisions to trade.

Good. There's still hope.
