I agree with the soon-to-be viral poster on RealGM who agrees with the soon-to-be Finals MVP.

Zach Lowe doesn't want to vote for a guard for DPOY.

He has Tatum at 4th for MVP, citing defense.

I think some people are looking at Smart's play in the "role" of SG/6th man and thinking "we have a SG who can't shoot what gives" and now that he's a full time starting PG those same people look at him and go "this guy's the best defender at his position and he passes pretty damn well, what a great starting PG we have." It was always a bad take but I think that was an underlying part of it. So even if it's true that his numbers haven't really changed, his perceived role on the team has changed and I think that's what it took for some of his haters to see the light.

Wow. Did Nick Wrong, the guy who said there are 17 players better than "not-a-superstar" Tatum, agree with his 1st-team placement? There must be a glitch in the matrix.

Honestly I think it's best to just ignore this guy to tell you the truth. I'm half-expecting him to come out and put the Kansas City chiefs up as the favorites to win the NBA title.

I really don’t know how voters can vote Lebron to an all nba team after subbing Beal a couple years ago with pretty similar stats.

The whole thing is a clown show and it's wrong that the media gets a say in these awards when they are tied to potential earnings for players.

Nice. A lot of people, and organizations, giving Smart credit.

EOTY = Brad Stevens
COTY = Ime Udoka
All-NBA = Jayson Tatum, MVP convo
DPOTY = Marcus Smart, No question
All-Defense = Smart, possibly Rob Williams
MIP = Rob Williams has to be in that convo, too.

My first 2k21 trade for the Celts was moving Kemba, starting Smart, Brown, Tatum across the perimeter.

Was that mostly because of stupid AI overpaying for Kemba in a trade? Yes.
But there's always been something intriguing about the overall size and offence a Smart-Brown-Tatum trio can bring, whilst also being nasty defensively.

It might be Batman's year. He's gonna get a shot at KD, Giannis, somebody in the ECF, and then...hopefully...do a complete series shutout on Jokic.
It'll be like when Iggy won it.

Gonna go put a dollar on it now. Should get pretty nice odds...lol

[Edit]Can't do it. Market tops out at 501:1 for Evan Mobley, Grant isn't even listed...lol

Thought for sure they would give DPOY to Giannis to make up for not giving him MVP. Glad I may be wrong. Marcus definitely deserves to be the Guard to finally win it again.

It must be because the bookies think Grant is such short odds they’re not willing to take money on it.

Rob is the DPOY in my eyes and Smart doesn't win it if Rob is healthy, as they'd probably split votes. But of everyone else remaining, Smart deserves it.

Bam is just..solid...Rudy, voter burnout. Giannis, really you can give to him whenever, but it's like the MVP award. He's won his, he's an offensive force and unless he has another dominating defensive season, he doesn't win another DPOY, ever. So Smart is the guy.

Bridges and Bam, just to reiterate, im shocked they're even in this convo. I really just don't see it.

In any event, 5 years from now we will have 2 DPOY on the team, an MVP, and probably a fringe 3rd team player.

If we don't get a super team somewhere, this could be looking at a 3-5 year window of perinneal contention. This team with a few tweaks could probably win two rings in the next 5-7 years imo.

Watching you cope over Smart's impending DPOY win is **** incredible and my favorite thing about this board in the last couple of years. So good.
