2022-23 Celtics Predictions

Post#1 » by Feed Your Head » Sat Sep 17, 2022 12:36 am

We are getting pretty close to the season, so figure it could be fun.

Celtics record/seed.

All stars or awards.

Stat lines for whichever players you want.

Which of the end of bench randoms have a chance of breaking into the rotation?

Any smaller predictions, if you must.

Jaylen Brown has a good season but makes no serious leap. Tatum jumps into top 5 in the league discussions. Rob has a season ending injury before the playoffs. White reminds everyone he isn't complete trash from 3 and has a really good overall season. Grant makes a noticeable leap. Smart makes a bunch of winning plays while pissing me off in the process and I will say alot of irrational takes about him this season. Brogdon will be our 4th most important player this year after tatum brown and smart. Horford will show serious signs of decline but still be pretty solid and turn up for the playoffs when needed. Celtics will finish with the #2 seed again.

Grant makes another leap and solidifies himself as a guy you can’t leave open in the playoffs.

Horford takes a step back in the regular season but has another killer playoffs.

#18 finally comes home

57 wins
We stay mostly healthy but try to decrease RS workload a bit (tough for Ime at first but he does it)
Tatum 3rd in MVP voting, we have team success but other guys put up more impressive stats
JT All NBA 1st team, JB 3rd team, both are all stars and Marcus gets ASG consideration too just for fun
Rob and Marcus 1st team all defense
Malcolm and Al get close to 2nd team defense
Brogdon plays like 65 games and is great
Vonleh and Jackson emerge the most from the 3rd stringers
Kabengele and Davidson get some run against bottom feeders and become board binkies
Maybe PP gets traded (along with a FRP) for a backup 3 or 5 if no one emerges from the third stringers?

Playoffs: LAC, GS, MIL, and PHI are all really good
We beat all of them
ANYTHING IS POSSSSSSIIIBBBBBBLLLLLEEEEEEE!!!

I got Celtics with 55 wins and end up the #1 Seed
Tatum & Brown are both all-stars
R Williams & Smart are both 1st team all defense
Tatum 1st team All-NBA and Brown 3rd team All-NBA
Noah Vonleh a surprise key bench contributor
Al Horford continues to stay healthy (65-70 games played) and be a key contributor
Malcom Brogdon plays like 65 games and a key bench contributor
Brad Stevens makes a trade deadline pickup for depth.
Celtics get back to the Finals and Banner18!! :D

Read on Twitter

Let's hope Mazzulla is more open to smallball and giving guys 10-12 some PT, at least in the regular season. We'll need contributions from our lesser known players if we want to keep the main guys fresh for a deep postseason run.

54-28, I bumped this up from the 52 I was thinking the other day, when I heard how the team looks, and their FU mindset.

If we’re healthy in the playoffs, I’d feel good against anyone. I’d like another shot at GS, but I think the Clippers or Denver make the finals from the west.

Smart 11/4/6 on a 58% TS. Yes, 58%, also makes first or second team all defense.

Brogdon 16/5/5 on a 60% TS. Top 3 in 6MOTY, plays 55-60 games at about 27 a night.

Horford 10/8/4 on a 59% TS, plays heavier minutes in the first half, but only 20-25 down the stretch.

Tatum 27/8/6 on a 60% TS, gets legitimate mvp buzz. Improves his mid ranger to 40-42ish%, and is 38/39% from deep.

Jaylen 23/7/3 on a 59% TS, makes the all star team and has the best season of his career, even if the raw numbers are slightly down. 40% from deep in 8 attempts per game. Gets some votes, but falls short of 3rd team all nba.

White will shoot 35% from deep, and continues being a guy who makes everyone better, while having an elite defensive season again.

When Rob is back, I hope and think we only play him 20-25 a game, trying to preserve him some.

Grant gets extended for 4/54 with escalators up to 60. Shoots between 38-42% from deep on relatively high volume, talks more than ever.

Vonleh earns a spot in the rotation, because I want it to happen.

Mazzulla will ditch the interim tag very quickly, he’s GOOD. And if anyone was worried about him getting on this teams players, forget the worries, he’s already got on everyone.

Last thing isn’t really a prediction, but something zoystable said. This team is loaded with high iq players, and a lot of unselfish guys. The players either consistently make the right play, or at least want to make the right play. When you combine that with the talent level this team has? It’s going to lead to some extremely high level basketball.

Injuries are a legitimate concern, we have a pretty injury prone team. Tatum is the one guy we obviously can’t afford to lose, but if we want to win the title, we need to hope the team is mostly healthy for the playoffs.

52 wins assuming RW is limited for most of season.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Regular season MVP drought since Larry Legend continues but we'll have our Finals MVP after 15 seasons. Redemption for JT.

i agree, i hope Vonleh is able to earn a spot on the team.
If Tatum and Brown have another level to reach then skies the limit. I think the east improved quite a bit so being as good as we were last year isnt good enough. Adding Brogdon along with JT and JB taking another step could be what it takes to get us back to the finals.
Of course injuries change anything and everything for all teams.
