Wouldn’t have traded Jaylen for KD straight up then, wouldn’t do it now. I was a bit worried about having to face a healthy PHO team in the Finals, but that of course didn’t pan out, rather predictably.

Will concede that BOS with a healthy KD this year would have had a better chance at a title than the current roster. But the current team should be good enough to win it if they are ever going to, and are much better positioned for the future than if you do that trade, even straight up.

The biggest positive of Jaylens supermax is we can move him down the line and have control- otherwise he’s just not a super max player but we HAVE to sign him

But again some people still believe in 10 year windows even as we hold our breathe that Jaylen isn’t contrarian enough/different enough to say “it’s not about the money” (don’t think he does but I’ll say a 10% and that’s scary enough) and want a trade as we simultaneously wait to watch game 7 that could potentially (think we win) send us home before the ECF.

Forgot to add that of course winning some banners with Jaylen and jt would make this much closer to a fair discussion…hopefully that can start this year.

Would anybody still wish we had traded Brown/White/another starter(Smart or RW) and 3 first round picks for KD?

KD shot 45%/22%/89% against Denver after his ‘historic’ 56/40/91 regular season. KD would still be a great addition to any team in NBA but not at cost of a second team all-NBA player who is only 26 yo PLUS assets. I wonder if Phoenix regrets trading a young fringe all-star like Mikal Bridges in retrospect.

While I don't really disagree that you do the leaked deal, I STRONGLY disagree that that was even close happening. The Nets had no intention of taking anything less that a godfather offer at that time (especially from the Celtics) and actually used our offer to show KD that even our best offer sucks. We weren't down to working out protections imo, we were miles apart. I'm not convinced they would have taken any offer that didn't include Tatum.

As for the trade deadline, once Kyrie asked out, the game changed completely. They had to move KD. We probably could have topped the Suns offer, but at that point in time, we were the best team in the league, on a 60 win pace, and would have been counting on a rookie coach with a depleted staff to put the new pieces together. Im not sure many (any) GMs would have the stones to make that move at that time.
