Bigs for next season
I know we are in full playoff mode here, but I was just noticing that none of our big are getting off the bench except Big Al and Rob. So, of the bigs on our bench now, who will still be here at the start of next season?

Re: Bigs for next season
In my opinion it's going to be Gallo, Kornet and Muscala for certain. Probably Griffin. Grant Williams will either be let go or signed and then traded mid season in my opinion mainly because of the new CBA.
The Celtics will not be able to use the taxpayer MLE or sign buyout players with the new CBA. Celtics don't have many options to get better. That's why I think G Williams might be signed by the Celtics then traded later to get assets (young player, 2nd round picks etc.)
Gallo and Kornet are already signed, Muscala has a cheap team option and Griffin will be a vet min. They are all cheap.
I would expect a lot of the same players back because outside of a big trade the Celtics have no way to add players.

Great point that this team has set themselves up very well for these changes coming up, in that they really don't need to add anyone new to the roster at all - while their competitors are going to have limited options to do so. Bucks have 8 players under contract (including Middleton's player option), Phoenix eg has only 7 guys under contract.
Boston can sign Blake and Grant and some picks and go out for the summer.
The new CBA may be killing off my Grant-for-DDR plan but at least the team is set up well to handle changes that limit the top teams quite a bit.
All that said, the one-big system working successfully creates a lot of flexibility for this team and changes the needs for the team quite a bit. They are really deep at big and not sure Blake will come back next year, though don't know who they like better between Blake and Muscala. I think Kornet stays as the third string center.

I mean, it's the playoffs. Teams tighten their rotation. I don't think any team is playing more than 2 bigs in their rotation in the playoffs right now, are they? I mean I guess perhaps if you consider Julius Randle and John Collins to be a big - I'm not sure I would call them that, though.
The Nuggets have been rolling with only 1 big in their playoff rotation.
But to answer your question, I don't see why they all can't come back. I mean, they're on the roster now. If you decide to not bring 1 of them back, you're just gonna sign another big to replace them, right? So why not bring them back? We need the depth to survive a long, grueling 82 game season with lots of back to backs. Al will be 37 next season so likely will play even less minutes than this season.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Also I think Brad loves Gallo's size/shooting combo and expect to see him play next year.

How do they get someone else?

True, tough to get someone better than Blake for the vet min. I think the big distinction is if Gallo is healthy and Muscala is also on the roster, that's three more guys at C (counting Rob out at the beginning of this year) than going into the past training camp.
I suppose Blake could help fill in a bit for Grant Williams if he is moved this summer or leaves. That's the big wild card though with Grant Williams so if he's gone I think they bring in someone more of a 3-4 or true 4 than a 4-5 to fill his spot.
But assuming Blake comes back along with the other bigs under contract that's 6 guys that are primarily centers. And don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about that the more the merrier it's just a lot lol.
Edit: side note on how they can get someone - I think with a Grant s+t ouwards (say for eg he gets 14M just as a place to calculate from) they can only count half that salary so say $7M incoming in return give or take a bit. Plus $4M for PP and another $2-4 for some scrub or two going out they are going to be in the neighborhood of $10-15M max coming back in in trade without moving another rotation guy beyond Grant.
Double edit: - though I suppose if they tack Gallo and/or Muscala onto that it gets into the ~$20M range, I just don't think they send out a ton of quantity unless it's a real no brainer.

Will be interesting to see if Stevens tries to get more 2nd round picks on draft night to fill spots and now teams can have 3 two way players starting next year.

Based on the way he has played, and acted, this last half season or more. I wouldn't be surprised if Grant is not back. I won't complain either.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Problem is that Grant is an asset. Celtics have very little ways to acquire talent. So I could see the Celtics resigning G Williams then trade him in a package later. We will see.

That's a good point. We'll likely have 3 x Two-Way slots available.
Davison will undoubtedly get Pritchard's spot. And Kabengele has been in too long to sign another Two-Way.

I hope we sign Kabengele to our roster next season. Feel like he has the potential to be great back-up center with his physique, energy and hopefully improving 3-point shot

Re: Bigs for next season
I have some mild interest in John Collins. I know there is some issue with his shooting hand apparently, but he could be a distressed asset on that Hawks team that could get back closer to his best in a different situation.
His contract is a little high and a little long, but how much is a starting power forward likely to cost? I personally would rather the Celtics go for someone like him rather than resigning Grant Williams.

Celtics don’t have the taxpayer MLE. New CBA
Teams above the second apron cannot use the taxpayer mid-level exception to sign free agents. That exception is the only tool tax teams currently have to pay free agents above the minimum salary. Such contracts could last up to three seasons, and this year, they could pay as much as $6,479,000 in starting salary. This rule would have prevented four free-agent signings in the 2022 offseason: Danilo Gallinari to the Boston Celtics, Donte DiVincenzo to the Golden State Warriors, Joe Ingles to the Milwaukee Bucks and John Wall to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Teams above the second apron cannot sign players on the buyout market. The exact definition of "buyout market" has not yet been revealed, but it will likely apply to any player who is traded and waived during the season or waived while sacrificing a portion of his salary.

I don't believe that's being implemented right away.
