Wondering what Brown deals you view as acceptable? Honestly asking
From my perspective, I would consider the players below ( haven't considered in too much detail tax implications and salary matching concerns):
Trae
Murray
Bridges+ asset
Simons+ #3
Brandon Ingram
SGA
KAT

As much as I'd like to dream I doubt we can get any of these packages except Murray for Jaylen Brown. Even Bridges on a cheap contract is honestly better value and the Nets felt the same.

Chris Gasper Celtics Trade Of The Day

If they lose to Miami, to bring in that Championship gravitas, he's also a good facilitator and you want to be Golden State East:

Draymond Green for Smart & Grant Williams S&T.

I can sign off on this, though I'm not the biggest Green fan.

The Dubs are way above the apron so I don't think they can receive a player in a S&T. Also we are assuming Draymond is opting in, which he might not.

GSW isn't going to be able to take Grant back in a S&T. They're over the tax apron. I also don't see GSW wanting Smart back. They already have Steph as the starting PG and then there's be some overlap of both Smart and Gary Payton II off the bench. I think for them the preference of our guards would be White>Brogdon>Smart.

If Green opts in to facilitate a trade, we can get there salary wise with Brogdon/Pritchard/Hauser. We'd have to include a whole boat load of picks though so GS could make follow up deals. They're a competing team themselves, they're going to need to be overpaid the same way we would to deal a good player.

White / Smart
Brown
Tatum
Green
RWilliams / Horford

Is a super interesting rotation though. I switched White and Smart because I think that lines you up better in pairings. You don't want Green/Rob/Smart all out there together - bad spacing. Need another wing you can go to for 15-20 minutes/game in the playoffs, but it's a great start.

So this is the place to discuss a threadmill team?

Is threadmill a team that generates a lot of RGM threads?

Good one!

Obviously, I was referring to the typo in this thread's title.

I would make the deal for Murray and agree on Bridges, he fits into Brooklyn's plan and is on a good contract. SGA and Ingram would be option 1 and 2 in my eyes, even though its not happening

Can't. GS will be over the 2nd apron.

Also, Gasper is a Marcus Smart hater who knows nothing about basketball. Every trade he suggests has Smart leaving.

The Cavaliers need a wing and frankly a bigger backcourt. The Celtics need a second option with better playmaking skills.
It would be a ballsy move to make a trade between two teams who are probably their main competitors for the next years.
But let's go. And a roster balance move with the Raptors.

To Boston: Darius Garland, OG Anunoby, Isaac Okoro (out: Brown, Smart, Brogdon)
To Cleveland: Jaylen Brown, Malcolm Brogdon, Precious Achiuwa (out: Garland, Okoro, Osman)
To Toronto: Marcus Smart, Cedi Osman (out: Anunoby, Achiuwa)

New rotations:
Boston: Garland/White/Anunoby/Tatum/R.Williams (+ Pritchard/Hauser/Okoro/Muscala/Horford)
Cleveland: Mitchell/Brogdon/Brown/Mobley/Allen (+ Rubio/Levert/Windler/Wade/Achiuwa)
Toronto: VanVleet/Smart/Barnes/Siakam/Poeltl (+ Flynn/Trent/Osman/O.Porter/Boucher)

By making this trade the Celtics duck under the luxury tax, get a lot younger (15 years) and they prevent getting financial hamstrung by a supermax contract for Brown.

If I'm trading Brown to Cleveland I want one of their young bigs.
If I'm trading Brown to Toronto I want Anunoby and Boucher.

Chris Gasper rightly points out, that Marcus Smart is the longest-tenured Celtics never to win a Title.

Marcus Smart almost cost the Celtics the season, playing hero ball on his last shot, when clearly the play was to pass it
to a wide open White in the corner. And this is the Big Issue with Smart, he thinks he is better than he actually is
and it is a continuing issue, with him trying to play above his capability and role.

So, trading him is a desirable resolution to the conflict, Barrister.

BRown to Cleveland would have to have a return of Garland and Allen, imo.

I know we would need to add a little sweetener there, Perhaps Timelord? or Timelord to a thrid team with something to Cleveland>

Brown, Gallo and Christian Wood S&T to Cleveland
Timelord to Dallas
#10 and Pritchard to Houston
Garland, Allen, Eason, Martin Jr to Boston

Garland/Brogdon
Smart/White
Tatum/Martin Jr
Eason/Grant
Allen/Horford

Garland isn't going anywhere, but Cleveland could sweeten the deal in other ways.

The deal that makes absolute sense is Brown to Sacramento for Sabonis and Davion Mitchell. Sacramento needs a wing to replace the aging Harrison Barnes, who is a free agent. Boston need a replacement for Horford.

Or you could do Brown and Horford for Sabonis and Barnes, and hope to resign Barnes for reasonable money.

Even if the Celtics win the championship and Brown plays well in the finals, Boston would be crazy to go over the new second apron to pay Brown. That new apron is designed to break up teams, and in Boston's case that's what it should do.

Sabonis, the guy that let up 21 rebounds to Looney including 11 offensive rebounds. No thank you.

I wanna trade Jaylen Brown for a more mature, smarter version with better court vision and awareness. Can I talk to the manager?

Yeah, for the guy who shot 15% from 3 and 40% from the line in the first five games against Miami.

Sabonis underperformed this year's playoffs but I think Mike Brown will figure out how to use him or Sabonis will use the next regular season getting comfortable with that midrange jumper. He's not a good shooter but he's got enough of a touch that you shouldn't be able to leave him completely unguarded like the Dubs did.

No he didn't. He got stepped on if you recall. And in the aforementioned game 7 he was 22-8-7 on 10-16 shooting.

Sabonis sucks. That would make Jayson Tatum leave in 2 years

Return to Boston Celtics
