Sign the Beast: CP3
Some discussions in the other threads but wanted to get a more focused conversation
Not sure if he'd have any interest in coming to Boston but seems like it would be a pretty good fit:
1) Give him a legit chance at an NBA title (by filling a massive playmaking hole we have)
2) Clearly defined and much needed role as a 20-25 mpg PG that can create
3) Deep guard rotation that would allow him to rest during the year
4) Could probably move one of Brogdon/Smart/White to help in the frontcourt
What do we think? What is even possible cap wise?

Love the idea, but give it slim chance to happen. would need to trade Brogdon or Smart. Think LAL or Miami or even LAC win his decision.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

As usual, he goes to a rival like Sixers, Bucks and Miami. Celtics dislike high IQ players.

Would be awesome he can take PP’s minutes and be fresh for the playoffs.

I've been advocating for this move a long time.
He is exactly what this team needs.

Old and worn out. Basically a traffic cone on defense.
They can do better.

Re: Sign the Beast: CP3
If he wants to come, I'm not sure why Boston would say no. Otherwise I wonder if he would consider going to the Spurs to mentor Wembanyama for a couple years (they have cap space so they can also throw a decent chunk of money his way). But realistically he's going to play with his buddy LeBron in LA.

He'd be our best playmaker on the team if we get him and changed nothing.

Years later than I wanted but I'm so desperate for a high IQ player. Sign the beast!

Again, we have enough chokers on the team. Chris Paul chokes in the playoffs. He is also 38 and a bad fit for this team because we have 2 ball hogs. Paul would average 3 assists a game playing here.

He's EXACTLY what this team needs so you know there is no chance we sign him.

Re: Sign the Beast: CP3
There’s no chance he comes if we make Rondo an assistant. Otherwise I like the move. Trade Brogdon with Grant for a competent big for depth and we’ve got a good balanced rotation.

Ten years ago...yeah.
Not now at 38.

Re: Sign the Beast: CP3
I said this in the other thread:
I desperately want this, but only if CP3 would be willing to come here on a smallish contract and play off the bench. In this scenario I would trade Brogdon for value in another position and keep PP.
We could even come to an understanding that he migrates into an assistant role at the end.
However CP3's smarts and playmaking are things our team desperately needs to stop the stagnation.

Agreed except I think we can still trade PP.

Looks like a good chance he goes back to phoenix..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

He's either going back to Phoenix or to his superbuddy LeBron. Who are we kidding?

Re: Sign the Beast: CP3
He would want a starting spot. Which is why he wants back in Phoenix. He won't get that here. Plus we have enough guards.
