You will be sorely missed, sir. Like Tony Allen, but 10 times more. Memphis lucked out.

Pains me to say it. But this is the right deal. We have White and we desperately need a PG who can facilitate.

Smart is a great player but his play style doesn't fit our roster anymore. With the Jay's being too turnover prone and Smart not being able to facilitate and being the type of guard who can break the zone.

Guess that last turnover got Brad thinking.

Good luck in Memphis Marcus. You'll be a huge upgrade replacing Brooks. He will be able to play his style of ball with Ja moving the ball. We keep White as the main closer now, win - win situation for both teams.

Sometimes we could question his offensive judgment, but could never question his heart nor commitment to the team and franchise. I think that's all we ever ask for.

A huge loss, and easily one of my favourite players to ever wear green.

Well I will give him credit he was the heart and soul of this team and I do miss his defense from a few years ago

Regardless what I'm not going to miss is him leading the team in three-point shots shooting 3-16 most games

Marcus made the transition easier from the Big Three to current generation.

I’ll miss him. I wish him well in Memphis.

He gave it his all here. That being said he's not the same defender and his offense is Meh. He will have a big role in the Grizz cuz he's better than Dillon Brooks ever was.

Marcus Smart was very very good, but not perfect, he is a microcosm of what the team was the past few years before this one, full of effort and desire but lacking just a little bit. Smart brought a toughness and an attitude that will be sorely missed. Outside of the Jays he has probably been the most defining Celtic of the last 7 years. His hustle and will are rare and will not be easily replaced. His shooting, both his selection and accuracy varied widely over his tenure here but he consistently took likely less then he could get on the open market to stay in Boston.Last season was not his best, and the injuries and age may be catching up with him a bit. He is gone from the team, but in my mind he will always be a Celtic, always be hustling, and almost always be taking an ill advised 3. Goodbye Marcus, thanks for the memories, they were very very good, just because they weren't perfect does not mean they were not worthwhile.

Brogdon isn't better at that than Smart is. The opposite, if anything. Ditto Pritchard.

This is such a blow. We got great value from the three-team trade (Porzingis + 2 FRPs??), but it cost us Smart. He should have been a Celtic forever, and he was the heart and soul of this team. I'm gonna miss him so damn much, and I really wish he and the Jays won a title together.

Who's gonna be the leader of the C's now? The Jays need to step up in that department because Smart's absence means there's going to be such a huge leadership hole to fill.

Dunno how, dunno when, but Marcus Smart is still gonna retire as a Celtic.
