Celtics move a beloved backcourt asset from a sweet shooting big who may not fit the defensive scheme but brings alot of things we were lacking. Talk amongst yourselves, and of yeah, grade the trade.

I wince a bit and give it an A+, while pointing out that Grant should also be considered a “cost” of the deal.

If the Celtics stay healthy they now have no reason to not be the best team in the league.

Grade it with my head or heart?

Heart is a big fail.
Head it’s a very smart trade with risk even if it hurts and maybe an A-.

My 3 wishlists in the offseason is to get a quality big, trade JB, and move Smart (either to the bench or another team.) Brad fulfilled 2. The 2 FRPs are icing on the cake. I give it an A.

Horrific. You traded a 16 game starter on a contender for some other stuff that isn't that. Good for the Bucks though.

We all know they couldn’t just run it back & now we know they aren’t. There will be other moves as well, we’ll see what happens. But they had to do this trade, it fills a major hole.

So you lose Smart and two guys who didn’t play. Here are the pluses:

White plays more and closes
Acquire an all star big man
Acquire two first round picks you can use to make more moves to improve your roster

A for sure. Sucks to lose a player so emotionally tied to the team but objectively it’s a big win.

Good point on White closing. He was our 3rd best crunch time scorer in the regular season, and should have closed more for us in the playoffs.

Not that either has a lot, but which has more value:

#25, or #35 plus Muscala (didn't he cost 2 second round picks or so?) plus Gallinari?

I rate it as a B. Could work out as an A but its a big bet and big risk

can't provide a final grade until we find out if we are extending him for 2-$77 million or whether this means Jaylen eventually leaves. As it sits it's an A since we got picks and addressed our biggest need.

So basically we traded smart and 35 for unicorn 25 and a future 1st? So white, brown Tatum timelord, unicorn with Brogdon and horford off the bench. Still a strong 7 and hopefully get something for can't will and pp. Possibly bring mader and bargirin and a first pick. I hated smart then loved smart but last year I saw regression so b- for me

B for now, I wanted Porziņģis in the past. I think he will thrive here.

For Tatum to fully take his place as team leader Smart needed to go. It was never going to be Tatum's team with Smart still here. No excuses for Tatum now. Hopefully he embraces it.

Smart, Muscala, Gallo for Porzingis, a 1st (that could turn out to be good), and move up 10 spots in this year’s draft.
